Jefferson & Chandler Shipped, Heat Add a Big Piece, and More…

Jefferson to the Jazz
When Michael Beasley got shipped to the Timberwolves for 2 Pepsi’s and a bag of popcorn, we all knew that Al Jefferson was likely gone. Jefferson has found a home in Utah in exchange for two future first round picks. The Jazz were able to acquire Big Al with a trade exception left over from Boozer’s departure. In my eyes, the Jazz made a good move here, as they had to bring some talent in after Boozer left for the sake of Deron Williams.
Tyson Chandler headed to …

5 Thoughts on the NBA Draft

Shout out to the Ref, who did a great job in analyzing the draft as it happened. But now that the dust has settled, it’s my turn to jump into the melee with some (possibly outrageous) thoughts on this years’ draft.
1. What in God’s name were the Portland TrailBlazers Thinking? Who fires their General Manager an hour before the draft??Removing a GM an hour before the draft is like punching a pregnant lady in the gut right before she’s about to give birth. In both scenarios, the future is screwed. …

NBAtoday.net 2010 Mock Draft

The following mock draft is a collaboration from the writers of NBAtoday.net.  By no means are we real scouts, although some of us think we are (The Basher) and some of us wish we were (the entire staff). Our mock draft is based on what we think teams and at times I will look at another mock draft and throw a guy in there who I know nothing about just because I can.
2010 NBA Mock Draft:
1.  Wizards – John Wall, 6-4, 196 lb, PG, Kentucky – They’d be stupid not …

R.I.P. Manute Bol

Manute Bol, the 7’7” Sudanese shot-blocking specialist, passed away yesterday due to complications from a severe kidney disease and a painful skin condition. Bol was unique in that he is one of the tallest players ever to wear a uniform. He played for the Philadelphia, Golden State, Miami, and Washington where he had career averages of 2.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks. He led the NBA in blocks during the ’85-’86 season, and the ’88-’89 season.
Aside from his efforts on the basketball court, Bol was devoted to the humanitarian cause …

Celtics Poop the Bed Bringing Forth Game 7

Lakers 1 million, Celtics 0

Okay, okay, the actual score was Lakers- 89, Celtics 67. This game was ugly, early and often. The Celtics came in with a chance at winning a second ring in three years. The Lakers had a lot of pressure facing them in this game, but you would have never known it considering this game was over at intermission.
Boston scored 31 points in the first half, while the Lakers scored 51. I give the exact score because if it had been a 20 point Laker lead where …

Hawks Pluck Larry Drew as Next Head Coach

Who?

That’s what I thought when I heard that the Atlanta Hawks had selected Larry Drew as their next head coach. The Hawks have reportedly offered this mystery man (to me) a 3 year deal, worth $5 million. Drew was the lead assistant for Mike Woodson, his predecessor in Atlanta. He has never been a head coach, but has been an assistant for the Lakers, Wizards, Pistons, and Nets. He also played in the NBA for 10 seasons and has a son, Larry Drew Jr., who plays for the University of …

In Avery I Trust

I know everyone wants to hear G’s impression of Avery Johnson again (if you missed it, check our podcast archives), and now I get to hear it for 82 games. Johnson has agreed to become the next head coach of the New Jersey Nets. Johnson is best known for his playing days with the Spurs, but he also has the highest …
