Rockets, Hornets See Playoff Hopes Crumble (Sort of Like Kansas St. and Kentucky)

I’m going to start this Saturday wrap-up giving congratulations to Butler and West Virginia for making the Final Four. To tell you the truth though, I’m really only doing it because I was rooting for them to beat KSU and UK. Now that we have the college games out of the way, let’s get to the real deal – the NBA! Only five games on the schedule, let’s gooo!

Lakers 109, Rockets 101
Field goal shooting. Seems like an important stat, one that is pretty obvious when it comes down to the …

Kobe and Lakers Burn Suns, Heat KO Bulls, Buck Does NOT Stop Here!

Lakers 102, Suns 96
Show of hands: how many people here thought the Lakers were washed up and falling fast after their three-game losing streak last week?  Ok, now how many people here hate the Lakers?
Yeah, I’d bet it was the same people keeping their hands up for both, and boy are they disappointed; because the Lakers are focused and back on track after a big road win against the Suns.
Guess who stepped up for the Lakers in their big road win. Who else, but Kobe (yes, I am going to …

News and Rumors: Pitino Interested in Nets, McGrady Trade in Three-Team Deal, plus more!

Rick Pitino Back to the NBA?

What a crazy Thursday morning for Rick Pitino, the New Jersey Nets, and media outlets around America. Current college coach of Louisville Rick Pitino was originally rumored to be scheming a comeback to the sidelines in the NBA. I first heard this morning that he reached out to the Nets, either Rod Thorn or prospective owner Mikhail Prokhorov, on …

Kobe Ices C’s, Nuggets Cruise, and More!

Lakers 90, Celtics 89
I think Kobe turned every shamrock in the world red with anger today.
His once-again clutch shooting prevailed with 7.8 seconds left as the Lakers got a solid road win in at TD BankNorth. Kobe’s shot was over a closely guarded Ray Allen, who in my mind did everything he could to contest the shot. Allen had one last shot to win the game, but was slightly off the mark as time expired.
Boston, coming off tough losses against Atlanta and Orlando, had an 11 point lead in the …

Daaa Bulls and Thundercats Impress, Boykins Burries Nets, and so much more!

Bulls 108, Hornets 106 (OT)
The Chicago Bulls are over .500 – this is after an amazingly disappointing start that left Vinny Del Negro at the absolute cusp of being fired. And the weirdest thing about it is that they are winning away from home!
On Friday in Narleans, the Bulls overcame a horrendous fourth quarter to pull off a road win over the Hornets. Luol Deng dropped 26 points, including a putback that avoided a disaster with only 0.2 seconds left in regulation. The overtime period was not quite as exciting …

LeBron Wins Battle of the Nike Puppets, Nuggets Take Over in Second Half

Cavs 93, Lakers 87
In what was considered round 2 of the most exciting matchup of the year, the LeBron and Kobe show was one for the ages.
Too bad the game came down to Pau Gasol. Gasol, not having the best night of the season, was blocked by Anderson Varejao to prevent the go-ahead basket with 50 seconds left. LeBron got hold of the ball, and drove court to court to garner a lead they wouldn’t lose again. In addition, Gasol missed both free throws that would have tied the …

Calling All Superstars: Shaq Wants Stars to Dunk

Anyone who followed the NBA games or read The Basher’s wrap-up from last night’s games knows that Tuesday night was SHAQ NIGHT, as the Big Aristotle dropped his 28,000 point. As we all know, Shaq has a tendency to open his mouth sometimes and say pretty much whatever is on his mind. Sometimes these things are important, unimportant, complicated, uncomplicated, funny, and well actually, he’s hardly ever unfunny…
So of course we can expect him to have something to say after a momentous occasion on his part. And he actually makes …
