Bobcats Win on the Road; Knicks Answer Back; Mavs Hold Off Bucks’ Comeback

Bobcats 114, Suns 109
Stephen Jackson and the Bobcats answered the call winning a huge game in overtime on the road against the Suns.  Jackson tied the game at 98 with a three pointer over Steve Nash with 19 seconds left in the game.  The Suns had a chance to win in regulation when Nash drove and kicked out to a well guarded Jared Dudley.  Dudley’s contested jump shot hit the back iron, forcing overtime.  In overtime Jackson, who scored 30 points in the game, continued to dominate scoring 9 of …

Toronto Upsets Kobe, Clippers Shut Down Wiz, and Dallas Makes Knicks Look Like the Liberty

Toronto 106, LA Lakers 105
What have I been saying about the Lakers on the road?
The Lakers (33-11) may be the favorite to win the championship, but they are going to have trouble if they can’t close out games away from Staples. The defending champions were up 4 with 1:15 left to go, but couldn’t buy a bucket for the rest of the game. Kobe Bryant couldn’t add to his 27 point night. Nobody wanted to step up. Then, with 1.2 seconds left, Pau Gasol fouls, supposedly, Hedo Turkoglu, who struggled …

Spurs Win Without Duncan, Dirk Sets Milestone, Rockets Win in 3OTs

Spurs 109, Thunder 108
This was a featured game in our podcast this past week and it didn’t disappoint.  If you look at the box score you may have thought the Thunder were out of this game by the first after being outscored 35-18 but they fought back to cut the lead to 12 at half.  In a 3rd quarter romping the Thunder actually pulled ahead by 1 but the game went to OT where Jefferson put the game away for the Spurs who are now 24-13.
Blair had himself a career …

Lakers Get Blown Out While Kobe Leaves Game Early, Magic Win In Sac-Town

Spurs 105, Lakers 85
The Lakers have now lost 4 straight road games for the first time in a few years.  LA just didn’t have it tonight, Gasol missed his 5th straight game which just goes to show how valuable he is to this team.  Kobe didn’t even take a shot in the 3rd quarter and didn’t play the fourth at all apparently because of bad back spasms.  Andrew Bynum continued to play well without Gasol, finishing with 23 points and 8 boards.
Tim Duncan had one of his best games on …

Spurs Out-Run Detroit, Nash Leads Win, and Pau-Less Lakers get Dominated by Clippers Big Men

San Antonio 112, Detroit 92
When a team shoots 58% from the floor, there isn’t much the opposition can do.
Detroit (11-23) played well in San Antonio, but was no much for the 4th quarter run the Spurs (21-12) thrashed upon them. The Pistons went into AT&T Center and did everything they could to thwart their 10-game losing skid. Detroit was down 2 entering the final quarter. Then it went all down hill. The Spurs shot the lights out by going 75% from the floor, and ended the game with 20-6 run.
San …

Fantasy Update: 12/30

Normally in my Fantasy Update posts I have tried to give you, the reader, players who you can pick up before they start to break out.  Some have worked out (Brendan Haywood and Brandon Jennings) and some have not (cue up Steve Blake).  Last night was probably the greatest fantasy night I have seen all year.  I’m going to highlight last night’s five best performers in the fantasy world.  The amazing thing is this list does not even include LeBron James’ and Russell Westbrook’s near triple-doubles.
Chris Paul – Paul and …

Kobe’s 44 Holds-Off Warriors; Hornets Lose Despite CP3′s Triple-Double; Bulls and Spurs Win

Lakers 124, Warriors 118
Playing a fast pace game to keep up with the Warriors, Kobe Bryant had his 103rd 40-point performance to lead the Lakers to a 124-118 win against the Warriors. Bryant finished with 44 points and also dished out eleven assists to complete the double-double. Pau Gasol dominated the paint scoring 27 points and ripping down 12 rebounds. Lamar Odom also had his own double-double scoring scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
The Warriors were led by Corey Maggette’s 25 points and Monta Ellis’s 22. Anthony Randolph and Ronnie …
