Ariza Dunks on McGee

Javale McGee is one of the best shot blockers in the league, averaging 2.5 per contest but going against Trevor Ariza in the New Year proved to be a wrong move. Ariza is known for his high energy, high flying throw downs against bigger opponents. Last night in Washington, Trevor proved those accusations correct. McGee got POSTERIZED!

McGee was so upset, he let Chris Paul steal the ball and finish a wide open lay up. This was the back breaking moment in the game. The …

Bulls and Hornets Find Their Guys

Both the Chicago Bulls, and the New Orleans Hornets have found a new head coach. Both had Tom Thibodeau as main targets, which allowed for Tommy T. to pull his name from the Hornets as he landed his top-choice-job in Chicago. The Hornets, somewhat jilted, then decided to go with Monty Williams.
Both Thibodeau and Williams have no NBA head coaching experience, however they’ve been assistant coaches to very solid teams. Tommy T. is currently on the bench for the 2010 Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics, while Monty was an assistant …

It’s the playoffs, so that means awards are on the way, coaching moves are to be made, and trash talking is rockin’ and rollin’. Lucky for you this version of News and Rumors has all of these topics!
Not in His House

Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic has won his second straight Defensive Player of the Year award, and it won’t be his last. For the second straight season Howard lead the league in blocks and rebounds (2.78 blocks/game and 13.2 rebounds/game) – making him the only player in history to …

Thunder Hold on; Melo’s 32 Enough to Beat the Hornets; LeBron Returns with a Win; Celtics Win

Nuggets 102, Hornets 95
Down two going into the fourth, Carmelo Anthony saved his best for last.  Melo scored twelve of his thirty two points in the final frame.   Melo and Chauncey Billups helped break an 86 to 86 tie with six minutes to go outscoring the Hornets by nine in that stretch.  Billups ended up with 27 points and Nene added 17 points and 12 rebounds.  As much as I want to talk about the Nuggets winning this game, I cannot help but notice that both New Orleans Hornets …

Balkman is Back!; Bron Bron Handles Nets; Grizz Continue to Win on the Road

Nuggets 119, Thunder 90
Forget that the Nuggets held the surging Thunder to twelve points in the 3rd quarter.  Forget Carmelo Anthony’s 30 points, Nene’s 20 points, and J.R. Swish’s 18 points off the bench.  Forget the fact that the Nuggets kept Kevin Durant under the 20 points mark for only the sixth time all season.  All that matters is that Renaldo Balkman (my favorite player) is finally back from his back injury.  In this 30 point blow out, my dude put up 2 points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3FG), 2 rebounds, …

Bosh-less Raptors Lose; Grizz Bounce Back; Bogut Dominates Hornets; and more!

Trailblazers 101, Raptors 87
Chris Bosh missed yet another game due to his bad ankle and the Trailblazers capitalized.  Andrew Miller fell three rebounds short of a triple-double with 18 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.  Brandon Roy had 20 points and Rudy Fernandez added 17 off the bench.  In Bosh’s absence Hedo Turkoglu and Jarrett Jack stepped up their game, but it was not enough.  Turkoglu had 24 points and hit eight of his nine shots.  Jack had 18 points and 8 assists as he continues to keep his starting …

Cavs Get Back to Winning Ways; Rondo Leads Celtics; Blazers and T-Wolves Win

Cavs 105, Hornets 95
Newly acquired Cavalier Antawn Jamison scored 18 points while LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal both put in 20 points as the Cavs snap their losing streak at three games.  LeBron also added 13 assists as the Cavs survived a forty point quarter by the New Orleans Hornets.  Rookie, Marcus Thornton, had 23 of his career high 37 points in that second quarter.  Thornton scored all but four of the Hornets points off the bench.  The Hornets are finding out that they have a solid back up point …
