The Orlando Magic made a big splash on December 22 by acquiring the aged point guard Gilbert Arenas and the three point marksmen Turkuglo from the Wizards and Suns respectfully. These players add a different dynamic to an already talented team of outside shooters. Arenas adds veteran leadership with a dash of a true shooter and energy off the bench. This is a new role for Arenas, he is used to being “The Man” with the Wizards and was playing well.
This is what The Magic really need because they …

The Orlando Magic must be desperate. After losing out on Chris Paul coming over to join the ranks of Miami and Boston, Orlando is cleaning house, which would make sense if they would pick up players that make them better or fit their system. However, after what transpired yesterday, I am convinced GM Otis Smith and Coach Stan Van Gundy have lost it. I don’t know Otis too well, but this is familiar behavior for Gundy. He must have saw something on a consistent basis …

After a few days of letting the first part of the balance of power post settle in, I think it is time to finish up my premature and angry emotions about the upcoming NBA season. If you need to find out what I am talking about, take a read of my previous post. It’s actually right below this one. Magic 113, Celtics 92 (Celtics lead 3-2)
To be totally honest, I am not surprised that the Magic, at home, came out focused to take Game 5 of this series. Dwight Howard looked ready to go as he scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots. The real key to this game was Jameer Nelson. Nelson gave the Celtics a dose of their own medicine as he did his best impression of Rajon Rondo. He cut his way into the defense finding his teammates for wide open threes. Nelson …

Magic 96, Celtics 92 (OT – Celtics lead 3-1)
Down 3-0 and hearing the rumors that they already gave up, the Orlando Magic went into Boston and found a way to win in overtime. Up seven with 2:15 left to play in regulation, the Magic surrendered their lead giving Boston a chance to win the game. As Paul Pierce set up for the game winning shot, much like he did earlier in the playoffs against the Heat, he fumbled the ball. As both teams dove for the ball, time expired setting …

Magic 98, Hawks 84 (Magic win series 4-0)
The Magic pulled out to a 25-15 during the first quarter and never looked back. The Magic assaulted the Hawks with sixteen three pointers and were led by Vince Carter’s 22 points. The Hawks were able to keep Superman, Dwight Howard, under control (13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 turnovers) but were killed by the rest of the Magic. Atlanta had no one, including Mike Bibby (11 minutes and 4 points) that could cover Jameer Nelson who finished with 16 points and 9 assists.
