News and Rumors: Avery Lands in NJ, Doc Dislikes Fisher’s Flop, and MORE

This edition of News and Rumors focuses on head coaches current, and possibly future, as well as a coach with a complaint. June Jubilation is here baby.
In Avery I Trust

I know everyone wants to hear G’s impression of Avery Johnson again (if you missed it, check our podcast archives), and now I get to hear it for 82 games. Johnson has agreed to become the next head coach of the New Jersey Nets. Johnson is best known for his playing days with the Spurs, but he also has the highest …

News and Rumors: Ferry Fleas Cavs, The ‘King’ on Larry King, and More

This edition of News and Rumors focuses on the sinking ship that is the Cleveland Cavaliers. June Jubilation hasn’t included them in terms of playing ball, but here is their mention:
Danny Ferry Leaves Cavs

The Cavaliers are changing on a weekly basis. Is any of it for the better?
On Friday, Cavs general manager Danny Ferry decided to continue the change that started with releasing head coach Mike Brown after their loss to the Celtics in the second round. Ferry, whose contract was up at the end of the month, decided to …

Mike Brown: Do Not Pass Go and Do Not Collect 4.5 Million Dollars

Well done Cleveland, this is by far your best play in the postseason.
Mike Brown, after 5 seasons and no championships with ‘The Chosen One’ under his command, was fired just before midnight of Sunday evening by the Cavs front office so Brown could not collect 4.5 million buckaroos.
It’s about time! It may have been a prick move to wait this long since it was overdue, but it was the right one. Brown had no idea how to control his team, conduct a consistent game plan, or simply get emotional about …

I am a Witness, of a Major Collapse in Cleveland

Disclaimer: I am a HUGE LeBron hater. With that said, read my thoughts on LeBron, and what I truly believe the Cavs did wrong in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Boston. It’s not 100% biased either (maybe just 95% biased, haha).

After watching Game 6 of the Cavs/Celtics series, ask me if I’m happy:
You: Shooter, are you happy?
Me (Shooter): YES!!
Ok, now that we’ve cleared up that, let’s take a look at what the Cavs did wrong to go home much earlier than they thought.

Before the season started, the Cavs decided they …

Boston Moves On, LeBron Gives Up

Celtics 94, Cavaliers 85 (Celtics win series 4-2)
Oh my, that just happened…
Boston will now move on to face the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference finals after a 9 point clinching win at the TD Bank North Garden. I’m honestly still in disbelief this happened. Again, the Celtics used a balanced attack of Rondo, Ray-Ray, Pierce, and KG and gave LeBron and Co way to much to handle.
But let’s be honest – if anything was telling about the last 2 minutes of the game, it was Cleveland giving up. 9 …

Boston Massacre: Cavs Roll in Game 3 to Take Back Home Court

Cavaliers 124, Celtics 95 (Cavaliers lead 2-1)
For those of you who missed this game, the score indicates everything you need to know about Game 3. For those of you who watched this game, did you really have nothing better to do on a Friday night?

Going into Game 3 in Boston, the Celtics had a chance to prove themselves to be better than everything they’ve been made out to be the second half of this year. As it turns out, the expectations that came back up after their Game 2 shellacking …

Despite Surge from Cleveland LeBrons, Celtics Pull Even

Celtics 104, Cavaliers 86 (Series tied 1-1)
The Celtics give me heart trouble worse than a Double Whopper. Over the years, June Jubilation has given me “Playoff Palpitations”. There seriously is no safe lead when it comes to the Boston Celtics – it’s like they almost enjoy making it interesting.
Up 91-66 with 9 minutes to go, it appeared the C’s had it in the bag. JJ Hickson and LeBron had other ideas, scoring a combined 15 points in 5 minutes. Meanwhile, Boston was held without a basket during this period.
With the …
