Who’s the Smart One Now?

After pouring in 55 points in a game as a rookie, the Brandon Jennings train is getting heavier and heavier as more and more people are starting to hop on the bandwagon. However, it wasn’t long ago that he was the face of criticism from bloggers (comments), and sports columnists alike. Who would dare criticize a kid averaging 25.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 5.5 apg as a rookie (through 8 games)? Who would criticize a player who seems well on his way to a great career? Hmm. Let’s rewind time.

Welcome to the NBA Brandon Jennings, Thunder Creating Noise on the Road

Bucks 129, Warriors 125
Maybe it’s time I stop BASHING Brandon Jennings.  I won’t lie to you, I thought it was stupid he was going to play in Europe and I honestly thought he was over-hyped and that the Bucks made a big mistake.  It’s seven games into the season, and boy was I wrong thus far.  On Saturday, Jennings poured in 55 on 21-34 shooting, including 7-8 from downtown and 6-8 from the stripe.  Even with 55 points from Jennings the Bucks only won by 4 points against the Warriors.  …

Nets Remain Winless, Cavs Dismantle Magic, Jennings Outplays ‘Melo

Philadelphia 82, New Jersey 79
In the IZOD Center, the Sixers and the Nets continued their close defensive battle that started last week in Philadelphia, and ended in a similar way.  Points were hard to come by with teams shooting 39% (Philadelphia) and 40% (New Jersey) respectively, with both sides playing aggressively and attacking the ball.  Also, both teams have no outside game, unless you count Bobby Simmons, I can’t even keep a straight face typing that.  Excuse me.
Back to the game, the Nets had a few opportunities to take the …

So Many Blowouts!

Hawks 125, Nuggets 100
The Atlanta Hawks rebounded nicely after Friday’s loss but handed Denver their second consecutive loss tonight and as a matter of fact it was a blowout.  Carmelo Anthony struggled again from the floor going 7-21 and as usual did great from the line going 15-18.  The Nuggets were just 2-10 from 3 while the Hawks were 8-19 and shot 51.7% overall from the field.  Josh Smith was the man for the Hawks tonight; he scored 22 points, had 9 rebounds, dished out 7 assists and amazingly had 6 blocks …

Top 10 Potential Breakout Players in ’09-’10

In no particular order I have compiled a list of my top 10 potential breakout players for this 2009-2010 season.  Some players listed have averaged over 10 ppg for their first few years in the league; some may have only been in the league for a year but now they are being more heavily relied on by their coach and teamates and in my opinion will “breakout”.  See who made the list below…
1. Trevor Ariza (Rockets-SG)  - Trevor Ariza is the best shooter on my top 10 but was only utilized …

Fantasy Update: 11/5

If you are in a fantasy basketball league, you know players like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard are ruling the roost when it comes to fantasy value.  In this weekly fantasy update I will try to point out players who are flying under the radar that you should think about picking up or trading for.
1.  Marc Gasol, C – Playing more like his brother, Pau, Marc is putting up big numbers for a sorry Grizzlies team.  He is currently averaging almost 18 points a game on 60% shooting …

Kings Still Sucking, Roy Drops 42 in Loss to Rockets

 Spurs 113, Kings 94
The Kings (0-3) continue to struggle this season after losing to the Spurs (2-1) in San Antonio.  The Kings have roughly 28 power forwards on their team, but unfortunately for them they can only play 3-4 a game.  Their interior defense is just pathetic and they allowed the Spurs to shoot 58.1% overall and 50% from 3 point land (8-16).  The Spurs were led by Tony Parker who had 24 points and 7 assists.  Richard Jefferson had his breakout game for the Spurs scoring 21 points.
Clown of the game: …
