Kobe’s 42 Pace Lakers, Pistons’ Streak Snapped, Suns Roll

Lakers 96, Bulls 87
Kobe Bryant has a broken finger on his shooting hand; he also dropped 20 points on the Bulls in the 1st quarter and finished the game with 42 points.  It was Kobe’s 5th 40 point+ game this year and 104th for his career.  The Lakers shot 4-20 from 3-point land and Kobe had 8 turnovers, but they still won the game – that is how good these guys are.  For the Bulls, Joakim Noah had a 20 rebound game including 14 offensive boards.  That was basically the …

Hack-A-Howard Beasts Over Pacers, Nuggets and Clippers Roll

Magic 106, Pacers 98
Sorry Jim O’Brien, but lets try a different gameplan than fouling Dwight Howard every time he touched the ball. This game was ugly, as both sides nearly came to blows on a hard foul by Troy Murphy in the fourth quarter.
However, Dwight stepped up. He grabbed 23 rebounds and still managed to score 21 points in the win for the Magic. Due to the concentration on Howard down low, it left lots of open looks for Vince Carter (28 points) and J.J. Redick (13 points, three 3PM), …

Celtics Win 11th Straight, A.I. Scores 20 in Win, T-Wolves Get Rare W

Celtics 110, Grizzlies 105
It was close till the end but Ray Allen and the Celts were too much for the upstart Grizzlies. Allen hit a three to ice the game as the shot clock expired in the final minute to ice the  C’s 11th straight victory.
Ray Ray found his stroke hitting five of six threes and scoring 18 points.  Paul Pierce put up 19 of his own and led six Celtics in double figures.
The Grizzlies who played a great game in the loss can take a lot from this one. …

What To Watch for: Dec 13 – 20

Monday
Boston @ Memphis – Memphis is coming off an absolute stomping of Miami and have been playing great basketball in their past four games. Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol are looking like a legitamite 1-2 punch for years to come.
They run into a very hot Celtics team who have won ten in a row.  Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen have shed their early season struggles and Rajon Rondo is still improving with every game.  The Celtics now have the best record in the league and are definitely the team to …

Power Rankings: Week 7

Power Rankings: Week 7
What an interesting week. The Pistons are on a five game winning streak without Ben Gordon, Tayshaun Prince, and mostly Rip Hamilton (played against Warriors last night). The Magic lose 2 tough road games, Kobe’s flu and fractured index finger combine for a loss at Utah, and Boston is running like a fine oiled machine. How terrible can the Nets and Sixers get, and if you haven’t heard, the Bulls are thinking about hiring Lawrence Frank. My boy Basher is going delve into …

Grizz Smash the Heat, Cavs and Spurs Roll Easily

Memphis 118, Heat 90
Rudy Gay had a career night as the Memphis Grizzlies stomped on the Miami Heat Sunday night. The Grizzlies have reached double-digit wins ten games faster than their abysmal campaign from a year ago.
Gay had 41 points, a career high and had a couple of Jordan-esque highlight real dunks. Memphis has won three of their last four now led by Gay’s consistent scoring numbers.
Marc Gasol continued his hot start to the season getting his 7th double-double. Gasol dropped16 points and grabbed 15 boards as he totally outmatched …
