Lakers 111, Thunder 108
It’s a matchup that will be highlighted until the year Kobe retires: Kevin Durant vs. Kobe Bryant.
Each player has the potential to drop an immense amount of points on any opponent in the league on any given night. So would they do it against each other? Turns out they did!
The Lakers, back home from their east-coast roady, were led by Kobe’s 40 points (6th time this season with 40+) to overcome a 15-point first half deficit. The Thunder were led by Durant’s 30 points, but he fouled …
Trailblazers 85, Mavericks 81
Despite not having Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavs were able to beat LeBron and the Cavs on Sunday. So with Dirk back, Tuesday’s game against the road-trip ridden Blazers should be pretty easy, right?
Try again. Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge overcame the Mavs with a big 4th quarter to win in Dallas. Roy scored 23 and Aldridge had 19 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Blazers, who trailed by 7 entering the fourth quarter. The ageless wonder Juwan Howard won the battle of the Howards over Josh …
In a line stolen from Monty Python, “It’s only wafer thin,” perfectly describing the Rockets bench with Chase Budinger out with a sprained ankle and just a very young and inexperienced team in general, they needed to add depth. Von Wafer is about to sign with the Rockets after playing 3 games for the Olympiacos this year after leaving the NBA following his most successful season. Last year for the Rockets, Von Wafer averaged 9.7 ppg in 63 games in just 19 minutes per contest. He was about to sign …
The Oklahoma City Thundercats have added depth to their roster by adding PG sharp shooter Eric Maynor in a trade with the Jazz. The Thunder also took on Matt Harpring’s $6.5 million contract in the trade but Harpring isn’t planning on playing in the NBA again. The OKC Thunder gave up the draft rights to Peter Fehse who was a 2002 draft pick who is playing in Germany and has never played an NBA game. The Thunder needed a backup PG and badly. Westbrook is only a 2nd year player …

Two big drop offs in the rankings this week while two 6’9″ and above players are added to the list at 8 and 9.
Added to the rankings: Omri Casspi, David Anderson
Dropped from the rankings: Darren Collison, Wesley Matthews
1. Tyreke Evans – Evans is currently ROY, no doubt in my mind.

Power Rankings: Week 8
The NBA can unwrap a lot of surprises to fans, media, and probably to the players themselves. Brandon Roy and Chris Paul are now entering the MVP talk with stellar performances. They are making big shots in big time games to put their teams in place for a playoff run. The Eastern Conference can’t even stay with the West, and I even find that a surprise to an extent since I thought they would improve. Right now, if the season ended today, Milwaukee (11-14), Toronto (13-17), and …
Lakers 93, Pistons 81
It was a tale of teams that were certainly not on the same level.
While Kobe was great, the Lakers came out like a well-oiled machine tonight, dismantling the Pistons on the road. The defense during the entire game helped create double-digit leads down the stretch.
While Kobe Bryant dished in 28 points, he also had 5 steals. Ron Artest added 6 of his own, but also chipped in 9 assists on 14 points. Seeing a statline like that makes me wonder if the Lakers, when all “pistons” are …
