McGrady and Rockets Agree Something’s Gotta Give

According to reports, the Houston Rockets and Tracy McGrady have reached an agreement to not only give McGrady an indefinite leave of absence from the team, but also to try and work out a deal to trade the EX-superstar.
The trade deadline is February 18, which gives plenty of time to work out a trade; although, both sides would be wise to speed up the process to get it done within the next two weeks or so. McGrady is currently the highest paid player in the NBA, which will make him …

Celtics Blow 18 Point Lead to Warriors, Sixers and Kings Cruise

Golden State 103, Boston 99
Despite an 18 point lead, the Celtics could not capitalize on the early advantage.
The C’s committed 25 turnovers, which kept the Warriors in the game by scoring 23 points off them. Monta Ellis continues to break out, playing the entire game and scoring 37 points, which included 2 clutch free throws.
Rajon Rondo did his best to preserve the lead, scoring 30 of his own and collecting 15 assists. Ray Allen also chipped in 24, but did not shoot well from 3 (1/7).
Props to Monta Ellis for …

Suns Light Up Lakers, Durant Show Takes Down Nets

Phoenix 118, LA Lakers 103
In a matchup of high-octane offenses, the Suns just proved to be too much tonight at home.
The Suns took the lead with a 12-0 run to take the lead 32-23 in the early second quarter. While the Lakers would get it as close as 3, the lead never changed hands from that point on.  Amare Stoudemire (26 points) and Jared Dudley (19) led the Suns in scoring. Steve Nash chipped in his usual 13 assists in the rout.
The Lakers, who were missing Ron Artest due to …

Power Rankings: Week 9

Power Rankings: Week 9
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas this year, but now it’s back to basketball, especially for some teams that didn’t show up on Jesus’ Birthday: Lakers and Magic in particularly. On the other hand, how about the Cavs? Three road wins against the best home teams in the league, some in convincing fashion. Kevin Durant illustrated his ability to lead his team against the best in the West, even in the waning second. Brandon Roy is the MVP, and Deron Williams is the player of the …

What to Watch for: Dec 28 – Jan 3

This past week, we were all shocked by the lack of competition on Christmas Day by some big home teams. Now, the New Year is almost here, but 2009 still has a little something up its sleeve for the final week of the year.
Monday
LA Lakers @ Phoenix – Some people think this matchup represents the two best teams in the Western Conference. Well, that is starting to change now. The Suns have lost six of their last 10, which includes a pair of rare home losses. Meanwhile, the Lakers are …

The Baron Beats Buzzer in LA, Mavs Bench Carries Load in DEN

Clippers 92, Celtics 90
Don’t take things for granted. That was the theme in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Going into the game, the Celtics, coming off a big road win on Christmas in Orlando, had a nine-game road win streak – with only one road loss all season. The Clippers are a perennial sub-.500 team which you would think the C’s would be able to easily handle. Don’t take any road game for granted.
The Celtics held a lead for most of the fourth quarter until Rasual Butler sank a big three-pointer …
