What to Watch for: Mar 8 – 14

Every night in the NBA is completely unpredictable. Anything can happen at any time, and no one can prophesize each coming day. So this is a what to watch for, but don’t be constrained by these games, watch them all! Here is a preview though of the games I am looking forward to the most!

Monday
Spurs @ Cavs – This matchup should mean a lot more, but since the Spurs are no considered a top class team, there really isn’t much chance of this being a Finals preview. But let’s hope …

Magic Outperform Lakers, C’s Close Out Wiz, Thunder Strike the Kings, and Some BASHING

With all of these fun matchups on Sunday, there were things that just drove me nuts. I have some BASHING to do…
Magic 96, Lakers 94
Solid win for the Magic, but it looks like we’re starting to see a chink in the Laker armor?  Los Angeles has now lost three road games to Eastern (read: the inferior) Conference opponents on the road, and perhaps its time for them to self-evaluate their position. The West maybe isn’t as clear-cut at the top as it was a week ago.
A nice night for Dwight …

The Heat are Nasty…This Week, Dallas Wins Again, and Jennings Stepping Up

Miami 100, Atlanta 94
In the comment section of my last power rankings, Shooter exclaimed Chicago to be the most inconsistent team in the league. I agree with him that they are inconsistent, but they are nowhere near the inconsistency of the Miami Heat.
I understand that Dwyane Wade has been out for 4 straight games and the Heat didn’t win any of those games (big surprise), but even when he is in the lineup, I have no idea what team will show up. They beat the Lakers already this week and …

Snuggies, Fainting, Stomach Pains, & Contracts Hover Over a Busy Friday in the NBA!

Busy night in the NBA (and for the writers of NBAtoday.net).. Here are some quick wrap ups from Friday night’s best and biggest games!

Cavaliers 99, Pistons 92
It was Snuggie night in Cleveland – you know, those ridiculous ‘blankets’ that go around your arms from the front. Apparently there is a world record for largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets and it was broken last night. The criteria: each person must own it (hand out from the game), they need to wear it for five minutes, they must be the …

Miami Holds off Lakers, Suns Hand Game to Jazz, and More!

Oh, another night of TNT Thursday basketball, and it sure didn’t disappoint.
Heat 114, Lakers 111 (OT)

To quote a close friend of my and avid Heat fan, “Miami finally got a legit win tonight.”
Dwyane Wade was the answer to Kobe Bryant this time. No, he didn’t try to out-shoot Kobe, who just kept putting up points (he finished with 39). Rather, his ability to create off the dribble is what ultimately won the game for the Heat in OT. While Wade did put up 27 points, his 14 assists showed his …

The Future is Ready (Part Duex)

In my last post, I went over future NBA talent, focusing on a chosen few to build up for the draft in June. It was a big success. I missed a few players and you, the reader, pleasantly filled the void.
College basketball has been fantastic this year with scintillating and courageous performances. The games have been gritty and relentless with superb finishes and shocking upsets. The game continually gets better, even with that stupid player control foul rule. Players are stepping up and becoming prospects for a future NBA champion. …
