Earl the Pearl is Back!

That’s right NBA fans, 5’5″ journey man Earl Boykins has signed with the Washington Wizards.  Boykins has played in the NBA for 10 seasons on 8 different teams and last year was playing in Italy.  He is the definition of a journey man and his next stop is the Nation’s Capital.  The Wizards just waived Paul Davis and PG Randy Foye just sprained his ankle just adding insult to injury.  The Wiz already are without Jamison, Miller and James.
Boykins best NBA season was in ’06-’07 when he played for the …

Wade Outplays Agent 0; Dallas Rolls; Thunder Drop the Ball

Heat 90, Wizards 76
Down 49-41 at half, Dwyane Wade decided he would do whatever he needed to do to win this game.  He scored 29 of his game high 41 in the second half to help the Heat (6-1) remain in first place in the Southeast Division by beating the Wizards(2-6), 90-76.  In addition to his 41 points, Wade grabbed 5 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and recorded 3 steals.  Wade and fellow guard Mario Chalmers forced Gilbert Arenas to commit 12 turnovers, a franchise record.  Arenas also struggled from …

Brad Miller’s Shot Not in Time as the Nuggets Win in a Thriller

Nuggets 90, Bulls 89
After losing twice last week and finally getting JR Smith back, Denver (6-2) did just enough to beat the scrappy Bulls (4-3).  Luckily this game was on NBAtv so I was able to watch it.  Defense was a big part of this game limiting both teams to under 45% shooting from the field.  Chicago did a good job bringing help defenders towards Carmelo Anthony.  He finished the game with 20 points on 8-22 shooting, while committing 4 turnovers.  Kenyon Martin and Nene both finished with double-doubles in …

Psychology of the Buzzer Beater (Part 1 of 2)

“There is 5.3 second to go in the game, we are down by one and this is a must win game. Ray (Allen), you have been nailing jumpers left and right tonight, but Paul (Pierce), you can create and drive to hole and hopefully get to the line. How has Dick BaVetta been calling fouls in these waning seconds of the game?”
-“Doc (Rivers), what the hell does that have to do with anything? We’re playing the game.”
-“Well Ray, I am debating whether or not to take a …

Holy Blowouts! Warriors and Hornets Cruise, Makes for Bad TV

It was a night to forget for the Timberwolves and Clippers. It was also a night for me to forget I was watching NBA TV.
<begin rant>
Both teams were poorly outscored by halftime, to the point where NBA TV would rather show their trbl tv interview of John Schuhmann’s power rankings. To my disgust, I couldn’t decide which was worse – Brent Barry telling John Schuhmann he should work for TMZ, or Schuhmann’s defense in putting the Sun’s at #1 in his interview – and I paraphrase – “If Celtics, Lakers, …

T-Mac Is Back

Not quite yet, but Tracy McGrady self-proclaimed himself eligable to return from knee surgery on November 18th against the Timberwolves in Minnesota next week.  Any time you get a player of Tracy McGrady’s calibur back it’s usually a great team but the question is will this affect Houston Role Players, I mean Houston Rockets, in a negative way?
The Rockets are streaking right now and in a good way.  They started the season 4-2 and guys like Aaron Brooks, Trevor Ariza and Luis Scola are play great right now.  I don’t …
