Kobe, Gasol Carry Lakers to Opening Game Win in LA

Lakers 104, Jazz 99 (Lakers lead 1-0)

Going into Game 1 of this series, some felt the emotionally draining close out game the Lakers won on Friday in OKC could result in a first game upset at the Staples Center. Close, but no cigar, Utah. The Lakers came out to a demanding lead, which the Jazz fought back to take back. But the Lakers once again showed us that hustle and determination is still not enough to beat their core superstars in the end.
It only took 20 seconds and we were …

Bucks Fall Short In Series Upset As The Hawks Roll

Hawks 95, Bucks 74 (Hawks win series 4-3)

Before this series even had started, most (including myself) had written the Bucks off. No one gave them a chance after Andrew Bogut went down for the season especially when they were matched up with an uber-athletic team in the Atlanta Hawks. But with great athleticism and raw ability, came lackluster play. This allowed the Bucks to actually go up 3-2 in this series. But just like in game 6, the Bucks looked out of it and didn’t have the offense to back …

Cavs Rally Past Celtics In Game One

Cavaliers 101, Celtics 93 (Cavs lead 1-0)

Although the first round of playoff action isn’t completely over (Bucks/Hawks), the second round went underway Saturday night with an iconic matchup between MVP LeBron James and his Cavaliers hosting the veteran-laden Celtics. Our predictions have been compiled and will be shown after round 1 completion, but I can tell you from my standpoint, the Cavs should be able to win this series in no more than six games. Tonight’s game makes me feel confident that they could maybe even do the job in …

Boozer and Millsap Help Move Utah to the 2nd Round

Jazz 112, Nuggets 104 (Jazz win series 4-2)
The Utah Jazz have never lost a series in which they were up 3-2 and the Nuggets have never won a series in which they were down 3-2.  After tonight’s game, both streaks will continue.  Without Nene, Denver has no chance to stop Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap.  The two combined for 43 points and 31 rebounds.  Welsey Matthews, despite the four for twelve shooting night, was able to get the free throw line fifteen times.  He led the Jazz with 23 points.

Hawks Force a Game Seven

Hawks 83, Bucks 69 (Series tied 3-3)
The Milwaukee Bucks had a chance to finish off their series with the Atlanta Hawks at home tonight and could not get the job done.  For the first time in four games, Brandon Jennings and John Salmons were ice cold.  Jennings and Salmons combined to shoot 6 of 28 from the floor for 20 points.  The Bucks shot an abysmal 32% from the floor, including 27% from three point range.  Carlos Defino was the only bright spot for the Bucks, scoring 20 points while …

Spurs Pull Off Upset to Advance to 2nd Round While Phoenix Moves On Behind Hot Shooting

Spurs 97, Mavericks 87 (Spurs win series 4-2)
“The Spurs are a pitcher’s duel.” – Kenny “The Jet” Smith

Wow, what a perfect way to sum up the San Antonio Spurs. Well, they had their ace, Tim Duncan, on the mound tonight as they closed out the series. Duncan had 17 points and 10 rebounds in an exciting win for the Spurs as they got to finish off their rivals at home. Timmy D played great D and stayed fundamentally sound after not playing well the last two games in the series.

The …

Nene Hurt, but Nuggets Find a Way to Win

Nuggets 116, Jazz 102 (Jazz lead 3-2)
When Nene went down in the second quarter and Kenyon Martin banged up, I was nervous for the Devner Nuggets.  Instead Martin but his knee troubles behind him to score 18 points and grab 9 rebounds.  Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 26 points and worked hard to make it to the line.  Chauncey Billups added 21 and J.R. Smith finally had the game Nuggets fans have been waiting for.  Smith hit four of five threes, finishing with 17 points.
Although they lost, Deron Williams …
