Jazz 104, Rockets 95
The Jazz continue to impress out of the gates for the last third of the season. They didn’t waver over the 4 day break and they came out shooting 50% from the field on the Rockets’ home floor. Deron Williams, Skills Challenge runner up, dished out 15 assists while Paul Millsap came off the bench to drop 20 and snag 12 boards (he must have read my underachieving post).
The Rockets continue to slide and are now 27-25. Maybe once they trade McGrady and get some new pieces …

Nets 103, Bobcats 94
I watched this game, and the Sixers’ game at the same time. After about one quarter, I proclaimed to myself that, “The Nets are going to WIN this game.” I could just tell by the way they were playing, that they were going to hold off the Bobcats. It almost seemed like Charlotte was still on vacation, while the Nets came in hungry as if this new half of the season is a clean slate. Of the Nets’ five wins, two of them come against the Bobbies, …

East 141, West 139
It’s amazing how much defense can make a game better.
For three quarters, the game was filled with lack less D, nice alley oops, a three by Dwight Howard, which actually looked pretty smooth I might add, but never in those first 32 minutes I was truly into the game. Shooter and I watched it together and we were both enthralled by a few plays, but again never were truly into the game.
However, there were a few things that did catch my interest before …

This is what I love about All Star Weekend. Every player is smiling, having a good time, illustrating their skills and just enjoying the atmosphere. As they should. My boy Shooter covered H.O.R.S.E. and the Slam Dunk Contest. I surprisingly enjoyed the H.O.R.S.E. competition, specifically the Shootout, which has nothing to do with HORSE (I didn’t feel like putting the periods). Watching Sir Charles cheering both Rajon Rondo and Kevin Durant on to consistently make more jumpers to piss off the TNT producers made my night. Good for you Barkley, …

Congratulations to Nate Robinson, the first three-time winner of the Slam Dunk Contest.
The event was pretty lackluster until the last dunk of the night, which helped Nate finalize the title. There really was no thrill or energy in the arena, even after Nate’s last dunk. His final dunk was a lob off the backboard in which he caught in the air, and turned for a pump reverse slam. Pretty sick, considering he’s well under six feet tall!
In addition to the dunk, Nate brought out some of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders …

Finally, 2010 All Star Weekend has begun! If tonight was a sign of things to come for the rest of the weekend, then we should all be very excited.
Rookie-Sophomore Game (Rookies 140, Sophomores 128)
The Sophomores have won 7 straight seasons leading into this matchup of the NBA’s finest young superstars. Last year, Kevin Durant led the Sophs with a ridiculous performance of scoring 46 points. This year, the Rooks came into this game heavily undersized, but none of that mattered as DaJaun Blair tallied a game record of 23 rebounds, …

As the final games come to a close before the heralded All-Star Break, we had two exciting games left on the Docket.
Cavs 115, Magic 106
Cleveland had to look past a 40 point second quarter by the Magic, but LeBron took matters into his own hands. If his 32 points wasn’t impressive enough, his 13 assists was. He made his entire team better on this night, with J.J. Hickson (20 pts), Anderson Varejao (16), Daniel Gibson (11) and Shaq (10) all scoring in double figures in the win. LBJ also scored …
