Melo, JR Swish Lead Nuggets in 4th Quarter Rally

Denver 126, Utah 113 (Nuggets lead 1-0)
I don’t want to skip the entire first three quarters, but I can’t help but admit that this one really came down to the fourth quarter. Actually, it really came down to CARMELO ANTHONY!
Melo scored a playoff career-high 42 points en route to a 126-113 win against the Jazz. But it wasn’t just him who lifted the team to victory in the fourth quarter – JR Swish (aka Smith) was swishing them from three-point land as well.
JR was responsible for blowing the game open …

Cavs Dominate and Atlanta Withstands Bucks Rally; Celtics Win (But Could Lose KG to Suspension)

Cleveland 96, Chicago 83 (Cavs lead 1-0)
Before I get into this game summary, I am going to discuss the poor officiating in today’s matinée. David Stern better tell the officials that this is the playoffs, and just like it is for the players, it is different for the referees. Therefore, allow trash talking, pushing, hand checking, and hard fouls. Nobody wants to watch a free throw shooting contest in the playoffs. That’s not what the postseason is about.
Now the play that ignited this fire occurred in a play in the …

Bulls Are Playoff Bound; See Where Everyone Else Stands

Bulls 98, Bobcats 89
Win and you’re in.  That’s all the Bulls needed to do last night and that they did.  They were crushing the Bobcats at halftime, so unless they collapsed it was a done deal for the Raptors, win or not.  The Bobcats did bring it to 7 in the second half, but they benched most of their starters seeing as almost everyone on the roster played 20 minutes.
Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 27 and seems to be carrying his team in the playoffs.  If he could play …

Bulls and Suns Deciding Their Own Fate

Bulls 101, Celtics 93
Derrick Rose must have heard me and Shooter bash the hell out of him on the podcast because in the biggest game of the year for the Bulls he stepped with a career high 39 points and one NASTY dunk.  Rose is now averaging over 20 ppg this year after carrying the entire Bulls team in this last stretch run.  Rose was 15-22 from the field and his counterpart Hinrich dropped 30 himself!  It was a pretty evenly matched game as both teams had under 10 turnovers, …

Playoff Picture: Raptors Stay Alive, Hawks Clinch 3 Seed, Thunder/(Roy-less) Blazers Jockey for Position

Wow, what a phenomenal night for basketball. I think, however, we are looking at a muddier picture coming out of today than we had hoped.
Eastern Conference Playoff Picture:
As the dust settled, we can now say the standings look like as so:
1. Cleveland
2. Orlando
3. Atlanta
4. Boston
5. Miami
6. Milwaukee
7. Charlotte
——————
8. Chicago
9. Toronto (.5 GB)
Few notes about this:
1. Toronto pulled within a half game last night of Chicago with a huge win. Andrea Bargnani has been stepping up with Bosh out of the lineup, and scored 33 points in the win. They are still …

Celtics Surge and Denver Collapses

Before I get into tonight’s wrap ups, there were no exciting games as it was blowouts galore last night, and everybody loves that. There were a total of 8 games but only two are worthy to be mentioned. Anyway, let’s get to the action.
Boston 105, Milwaukee 90
Milwaukee has been playing well since Andrew Bogut went down, but tonight, they ran out of gas in the 4th.
Going into the final quarter, the Bucks were only down three, and they were playing well at home, which is usually what they do. However, …

Nets Soil Bulls Playoff Run in 2OT, Superstars LeBron & Kobe Rest, and Other Playoff Implications!

RACE FOR THE 8TH SEED IN THE EASTERN CONFERENCE

Nets 127, Bulls 116 (2 OT)
I can’t quite come up with the words that I should, so let me just start by saying this: I was at this game, and it was AWESOME!
Going into the game, I knew it’d be tough for the Nets because the Bulls are fighting for the eighth seed in the East. The Raptors were also playing on Friday night (turns out they lost too), so the Bulls had a chance to move into the playoff picture. The …
