Rookie Rankings: Week 16
Entering the All Star break, Blake Griffin represents Los Angeles and its a crime because he is playing in the All Star game when Lebron James had a better rookie year in a weaker conference. Just goes to show you Griffin only made it because of the location of the ASG.
A player on the rise is Paul George and if you don’t pay attention to him, he is going to sneak up on you just like Danny Granger did. Jim O’Brien didn’t realize ...

Rookie Rankings: Week 14
ESPN made an interesting remark about Blake Griffin stating there should be a separate reward for just him because the rest of the race is wide open.
Now, as the year is coming closer to the end (I’m exaggerating), how does one value a rookie? Do you consider a contribution to a winning team is the defining factor or is it just a numbers game? If it is the formal, than Brandon Jennings should have won last season, but since it is all about ...

Rookie Rankings: Week 13
It’s unfair to John Wall that Blake Griffin is having one of the best rookie years in NBA history because in most, Wall would be the leading candidate. He is averaging 15 and 10 in the past 15 games while the team has gone 6-9. It doesn’t sound impressive but where the Wizards were, it’s an improvement. He does need to help the team win on the road though.
Mentioning Griffin, could you imagine last year’s race with him in it? He would undoubtedly ...

Rookie Rankings: Week 12
Can anyone stop Blake Griffin? He scores 47 points against Indiana, helps Eric Gordon defeat their cross locker room rival and have won 10 out of thier last thirteen. What if the team didn’t start 5-21 to begin the year? What if Baron Davis starting playing good ball from Day 1? And the ulitmate what if: What if the Clippers make it to the playoffs, does Blake Griffin win the MVP?
Around the league, some rookies are running into the wall and others stock ...

Rookie Rankings: Week 11
The rookie class is starting to turnover. It was a slow for some but the disappointments like Patrick Patterson and Evan Turner are turning it on, mostly due to getting crunch time minutes from starters going down with an injury. The two are taking advantage and making the most of their opportunities.
Then, there is DeMarcus Cousins, who is putting up big numbers lately in a heavy power forward lineup. He is extremely immature at this point, and if he is playing like ...

 ShareRookie Rankings: Week 10
Over the past week, the young guns are entering a portion of the year they have never experienced before…playing basketball. By this time, almost every college team would end there season, but for all of the rookies, specifically the starters, have barely played a half of an NBA season. Therefore, expect to see some slumps, especially from Landry Fields and Wesley Johnson, but could see some rises with players just entering the starting lineup: Ed Davis, Gordon Hayward, and Derrick Favors. This where the ...

 ShareRookie Rankings: Week 9
This is the first rookie rankings of the season. I wasn’t going to do this this season but I can’t help myself with this wonderful and underrated class. Yes, they’re the Blake Griffin’s and John Wall’s but what about the Gordon Hayward’s and Derrick Favors’ in the discussion of up and comers in the NBA. Where is there love? Hayward is in the starting lineup for the first place Jazz and Favors’ production in limited minutes has been exceptional.
Let’s get ...

ShareJust a couple more weeks until the season is over, and before you know it the ROY award will be announced. A few guys are coming on late and there are a few mainstays in the rankings as well, so who will battle it out until the last day and take the ROY award? Well if you ask me it’s…

1. Tyreke Evans – I feel like a broken record talking about Evans but he is definitely worthy of ROY. He has been the most consistant rookie from day 1 and ...

ShareHere we are, nearing the end of the season and the Rookie of the Year race is wide open. I’d say 3 guys have a legit shot at winning ROY and another 2 guys should steal some votes from the top vote getters. Since we are so close to the end of the year my rankings will now be a top 5 system with those 5 being the actual contenders for ROY.
1. Tyreke Evans – Let’s be serious, ROY is usually voted based upon numbers and not so much what ...
