McGrady and Rockets Agree Something’s Gotta Give

According to reports, the Houston Rockets and Tracy McGrady have reached an agreement to not only give McGrady an indefinite leave of absence from the team, but also to try and work out a deal to trade the EX-superstar.
The trade deadline is February 18, which gives plenty of time to work out a trade; although, both sides would be wise to speed up the process to get it done within the next two weeks or so. McGrady is currently the highest paid player in the NBA, which will make him …

Paul Pierce to Miss the Next Two Weeks

Paul Pierce is out for the next two weeks after having fluid drained from his knee on Wednesday.  He did not take the flight to Orlando, obviously, for the Christmas day game because he was at the hospital getting the knee drained.  It will be the first time all year Pierce is going to miss a game and it comes at a crucial time when the Celtics play 4 games in 6 days, all on the road.  Pierce should be ready to return on January 6th when the Celtics are …

Pau Gasol Signs a Well-Deserved Extension With Lakers

Pau Gasol still had this year and one more year left on his contract until he becomes a free agent, but he signed an extension with the Lakers on Wednesday.  The extension is for 3 years and Gasol will be under contract until the 2013-2014 season with the Lakers.  The contract is believed to be worth at least $60 million, possibly more and it is well deserving.  Pau Gasol is making $17 million next year so it isn’t too much more for such a game changing, dominant player.  Since returning …

Von Wafer Likely to Sign with Rockets; Przybilla Next Blazer Hurt

In a line stolen from Monty Python, “It’s only wafer thin,” perfectly describing the Rockets bench with Chase Budinger out with a sprained ankle and just a very young and inexperienced team in general, they needed to add depth.  Von Wafer is about to sign with the Rockets after playing 3 games for the Olympiacos this year after leaving the NBA following his most successful season.  Last year for the Rockets, Von Wafer averaged 9.7 ppg in 63 games in just 19 minutes per contest.  He was about to sign …

Thunder Add Depth With Maynor

The Oklahoma City Thundercats have added depth to their roster by adding PG sharp shooter Eric Maynor in a trade with the Jazz.  The Thunder also took on Matt  Harpring’s $6.5 million contract in the trade but Harpring isn’t planning on playing in the NBA again.  The OKC Thunder gave up the draft rights to Peter Fehse who was a 2002 draft pick who is playing in Germany and has never played an NBA game.  The Thunder needed a backup PG and badly.  Westbrook is only a 2nd year player …

Newark Nets – I Like the Sound of That

By this time next year the New Jersey Nets, whose home resides in the IZOD Center, may find themselves playing in Newark’s Prudential Center.  The Nets are trying to reach an agreement between the Prudential Center and the IZOD Center in which the Nets wouldn’t have to pay $7.5 million to the IZOD Center for breaking their contract for the 2010-2011 season.
The big problem here is the IZOD Center would clearly lose revenue from the Nets but on the flip side the Nets are losing tens of millions of dollars …

Frank a Possible Replacement in Chi-Town

According to NBA coaching sources (that sounds like it’s a 3rd tier source) telling ESPN.com, if the Bulls release Vinny Del Negro of his head coaching duties, they may be interested in bringing former Nets coach Lawrence Frank on board.  The Bulls are currently 8-14 and struggling mightily on the road.
My question to the Bulls is why?  My question to the NBA and it’s teams is why?  Why in the world would ANYONE want Lawrence Frank to coach another NBA team EVER.  Sure Frank may be a nice guy and a “players coach” …
