Every sport that uses a 7-game series to decide their champion says the same thing: When a series is tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 will likely win the series. In the NBA, the same holds true.
In the 2010 NBA Finals, the Celtics and Lakers find themselves in this very situation. The series is tied at two games apiece and the winner of Game 5 is in the driver’s seat for another championship in their illustrious history. Game 5 is in Boston, even though the Lakers have home court …

In Avery I Trust
I know everyone wants to hear G’s impression of Avery Johnson again (if you missed it, check our podcast archives), and now I get to hear it for 82 games. The summer of 2010 is surely going to bring up a lot of rumors and questions due to the high amount of free agents in the NBA. What I mean is, if the Celtics are too old and they aren’t as big as the Lakers, then can they overcome that in any other game this series?
Doesn’t sound like it to me, and doesn’t sound like it to Lakers forward Pau Gasol. But does it sound like it to anyone else …

Some may call it a rematch. Some may call it the greatest rivalry in basketball. I call it a pretty incredible June Jubilation matchup.
No, I don’t mean the Celtics playing the Lakers is incredible. I actually am focusing on the Boston Celtics, who EVERYONE wrote off to be too old and washed up, actually making the NBA Finals. Just think about it. In January, the basketball world saw the Celtics as a team that could not even run up and down the court, let alone stay healthy. Boy, what a …
