Will the Warriors be ‘Smart?’

Even with a Hall of Fame coaching career in his briefcase, it’s time for the Golden State Warriors to replace Don Nelson, with assistant Keith Smart. Nelson, currently has pneumonia and will be absent from the Warriors’ 2-game Texas road trip. In their first game with Smart filling in as head coach, the Warriors upset the hot Dallas Mavericks in Dallas, with only 6 players.

Don Nelson is the second-winningest coach in the history of the NBA. However, in recent years, the wins have been replaced with team drama, poor …

What to Watch for: Nov 23 – 29

When I think of Thanksgiving week a few things come to mind.  A week off from classes.  Probably breaking a clavicle or two playing some pickup tackle football. Devouring Turkey like its my job, and of course checking out a bunch of exciting NBA Match-ups this week that make you salivate more than warm Pumpkin Pie…trust me I’ll get into that later.
Here is the NBA weekly watch list for the week of Nov 23-29.
Stud of the Week – Pau Gasol – The Lakers look scary good with the return of …

How the Nets Can Avoid the Worst Start in History

At 0-12, the Nets are quickly approaching the worst start in NBA history. They already own the worst start in their franchise history, but with six more losses they would tie the NBA record for worst winless start EVER. No matter how low the expectations are going into a season, that is not something you want to be a part of.
So what’s the problem and what is the solution? The problem, or at least the reason, is that they aren’t winning games is because half the team is hurt, they …

Who’s the Smart One Now?

After pouring in 55 points in a game as a rookie, the Brandon Jennings train is getting heavier and heavier as more and more people are starting to hop on the bandwagon. However, it wasn’t long ago that he was the face of criticism from bloggers (comments), and sports columnists alike. Who would dare criticize a kid averaging 25.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 5.5 apg as a rookie (through 8 games)? Who would criticize a player who seems well on his way to a great career? Hmm. Let’s rewind time.

Coming …

What to Watch for: Nov 16 – 22

After one of the worst Boston sports weekends in a long time the only thing I have to keep me going is looking forward to Week 4 in the NBA. It’s time again to preview the week ahead, and put the weekend behind me. (Really though, the Celtics lose to the Pacers, and Belichick caves against the Colts? Damn the entire state of Indiana really had it out for us…anyways…)
Stud of Last Week – Brandon Jennings – In the two games Brandon Jennings played last week he put up 32 …

LeBron: Don’t Be Stupid

I know half the staff and our readers are going to rip me apart for  this but…
“Retiring” #23 is stupid and here is why.  First I would like to say that I respect LeBron as a player and I actually do like him on and off the court (unlike Shooter) but this is ridiculous.  What has Jordan done for the game that Wilt Chamberlain didn’t do or Kareem or Bill Russell or Oscar Robinson?  Jordan didn’t change the game, I’m sorry but he didn’t.  Rules were changed for Wilt Chamberlain, …

LeBron to Lead Petition to Honor Jordan… We’ll See

After the Cavaliers defeated the Heat on Thursday night in Miami, Cavs star LeBron James told TNT that he wants to see the #23 retired by the NBA in honor of Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. Cool, do it. As G mentioned in his wrap-up, Jordan was sitting in the front row with Pat Riley watching this game and LeBron took notice. So LeBron, being the ‘genius’ that he is, told TNT after the game that he’d start the movement away from the #23 by switching to #6 this season. …
