Miami Meltdown

The Heat lost five of their last six games. In their latest contest against Chicago, LeBron James failed to close out the game with a layup attempt during the final seconds of the game giving Miami 86-87 loss.
“The Miami Heat is exactly what everyone wanted, losing games,” Wade said. “The world is better now because the Heat is losing.”
This interpretation from Wade raised a few questions for me. Wade aren’t you the captain of this team? Aren’t you the guy who has brought your talents only to …

Russell and Kevin: The New Dynamic Duo

The Oklahoma City Thunder certainly are the team to watch with Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook in the lineup.  These two prolific scores certainly can bring the house down with there offensive explosiveness.  This fearsome twosome account for 49.4 points per night.  The Oklahoma City Thunder can put points on the board, but there commitment to defense is whats really impressive.
There defense can shut down opponents in all defensive categories including rebounds, steals, blocks, and points allowed.  They allow 102 points per game while scoring 104 of there own.  The …

Executive Row – Locked out?

After a brief hiatus, the Commish is back to deliver (and hopefully alleviate) some of the rumors surrounding labor talks. Here’s to an NBA season in 2011.
“We both have the capacity to shut down the league. There’s no magic that’s going to keep this league operating if we don’t make a deal.”
- David Stern

These words scare you? Well, just in case you were worried about your favorite football team not lining up on sundays, you might have to worry about the NBA too. In what seemed like a …

Do you Believe in Magic

//

The Orlando Magic made a big splash on December 22 by acquiring the aged point guard Gilbert Arenas and the three point marksmen Turkuglo from the Wizards and Suns respectfully. These players add a different dynamic to an already talented team of outside shooters. Arenas adds veteran leadership with a dash of a true shooter and energy off the bench. This is a new role for Arenas, he is used to being “The Man” with the Wizards and was playing well.
This is what The Magic really need because they …

NBA History (Part 2 of Many)

In the first NBA history post, I discussed Ralph Sampson’s career. Not your typical way to start off this type of post, but hey, strive to be different. Anyway, I am continuing the same trend by talking about another player who could have been one of the best. A player with a recorded 44 inch vertical leap and could dunk on anybody. A player, who had so much promise, was destroyed by drugs and injuries in the end.
I could only be talking about David …

NBA History (Part 1 of Many)

When I posted ‘The Melo Hour’ I was happy and thrilled to put some of Bernard King’s highlight videos up. He played way before I could realize the difference between good and bad but watching some tape of him on the MSG Network, I felt it was my responsibility to share the knowledge.
So it got me thinking, why not do it more often. The history of the NBA is out there for our disposal. We have Youtube, Amazon, and other vendors to find …

Never Forget, Never Forgive

This is the second portion of a two a day article…click here to read the first part.
Second item on my mind: Will Cleveland ever forgive Lebron James? Anyone who reads my articles or has ever read my posts in the past has a complete comprehension of my disdain for ‘The King’, but should he be exiled from his hometown forever. I understand the levity of the question because the first query that comes to my mind is “Does he deserve it?” My initial, knee-jerk response is absolutely …
