Summer League Spotlight: Opening Day Thoughts

One of the most unique things about the NBA that sets it aside from other leagues to me, are the summer leagues. Each offseason summer, franchises assemble teams filled with rookies, young players, journeymen, and undrafted free agents. What’s cool about this season, is that NBATV will be airing every game live (For the schedule, click here).
Today, 4 games took place at Orlando’s practice facility, and I was able to watch the Thunder/Celtics matchup and the Nets/Sixers matchup. Without getting into a full out wrap up, the Thunder showed some …

That’s Amar’e in New York
One of the big name free agents has changed addresses, and his name is Amare Stoudemire.

The New York Knicks have not given up on nabbing LeBron James or Dwyane Wade as well, but they did strike a five year, $99.7 million deal with Stoudemire on Monday evening. …

Where Is Everybody Going??

Where is everybody going?

I really wish it was that simple. Well, starting tomorrow, things will start to get a little simpler as teams may begin discussing contracts with any free agent they wish. In this post, the goal will be to sort out the mess, attempting to clearly show where I think a lot of the big names will be going. Along the way, I’ll probably highlight some things I think others are overlooking.

The Teams who have the Money to Make Moves: Knicks ($34.5M), Nets ($30M), Bulls ($29.9M), Heat ($27.5M), …

News & Rumors: Dirk Nowitzki to Test Free Agency, Nets Trade Yi, Shaw to Coach Cavs?, Plus More!

Will Dirk Leave Big D? Wow. The free agent season just got a little crazier. Dirk Nowitzki, the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in German Dallas history has declined the last year of his contract (which was worth $21.5 million). Supposedly the President of the Mavericks, Donnie Nelson, is set to fly to Germany on Thursday when the madness begins. I wonder what Mark Cuban is thinking right now. This move clearly shows that Dirk wants to win a championship, because most players are going to take that $21.5 million all …

5 Value Free Agents to Watch

So we all know that come July, all of the free agent talk will be on LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and Joe Johnson. As amazing as those players are, there are plenty of high value guys available in this years’ class.
Luis Scola (Forward/Houston Rockets): Scola is the type of guy that any team would want. He’s an undersized power forward who filled in, in a big way with the absence of Yao Ming this past season. He averaged 16.2 ppg and 8.6rpg. He’s 30 years old, but has only been …
