Jeff Green is Bleeding Celtic Green
This report was broken through by various sources in the Oklahoma City and Boston area.
After the Thunder lose a tough game to the San Antonio Spurs, GM Sam Presti brings in a qualified BIG to OKC.
Oklahoma City sends PF Jeff Green and C Nenad Krstic to Boston for C Kendrick Perkins and SG Nate Robinson.
This trade is great for both teams but more so for OKC. The two dilemnas for the Thunder are three point shooting and low post defenders. Both of those problems are taken care of bringing Robinson and Perkins to the table. The Thunder have put themselves in contention to battle the Lakers, Spurs and Mavericks for Western Conference superiority. The beauty of the trade is there doesn’t need to be a mesh period with the new acquistions. It’s actually incredible when you think about it. The Thunder can now put up a big defensive output without losing and scoring power. Here is the starting line up:
PG. Russell Westbrook
SG. Thabo Selofosha
SF. Kevin Durant
PF. Serge Ibaka
C. Kendrick Perkins
Bench: James Harden, Eric Maynor, Nate Robinson, & Nick Collison
Whew… I love Jeff Green, especially watching him play at Georgetown, but this trade is perfect for the Thunder. Perkins upgrades the defense since he is one of the best defensive centers in the league and is a quality rebounder. All this while Nate Robinson improves the bench and the worst three point shooting club in the NBA.
The Thunder have a lot of hype behind them, but now, I truly believe they can back it up.
On the Boston side, Jeff Green comes into Boston providing top caliber defense, reliable scoring ability and a
solid back up to Kevin Garnett. Green’s skill will improve as the year goes along with Garnett and Head Coach Doc Rivers governing his talents. I expect a big impact from the 4th year power forward. He shows potential to be a Top 5 power forward and being surrounded by 4 great players in Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Garnett could bring that out of him. Green has never been around experienced guys before, so this can only help his game and the Celtics chances to hoist up the Larry O’Brien.
Nenad Krstic is going to get his playing time but will diminish quickly entering the playoffs because Boston is saving Jermaine and Shaquille O’Neal for the postseason. The Celtics don’t care about what seed they are going in as proved last year when they went on the road most of the way heading into the Finals.
They were the 4th seed but currently sit atop the Eastern Conference
This is a great trade and beautiful work by both Sam Presti and Boston GM Danny Ainge improving both of their clubs respectively going into the postseason.
This is The Ref signaling I’m out until next time and remember: We miss calls, you miss lay ups.
