Free Agent News: Boozer to Bulls, Durant and Allen Stay Put
With everyone chomping at the bit for LeBron James’ ESPN signing extravaganza, a few more players joined Chris Both and Dwayne Wade by agreeing to contracts today.
Carlos Boozer 5 years/$80 million with the Bulls. Fearing that they would be shut out after losing Wade and Bosh, the Bulls made the move signing Boozer to a 5 year deal. Boozer will join Joakim Noah down low and provide some more offensive help for Derrick Rose. The Bulls also have enough money to offer another max contract if LeBron decides to choose the Bulls tomorrow night.
Kevin Durant 5 year extension/$85 million. Today Kevin Durant agreed to a 5 year contract extension that will kick in during the 2011-2012 season that is reportedly worth 85 million dollars. He was said to shed tears of joy after agreeing to this extension. Now I will admit that I love Kevin Durant and that my opinions are somewhat biased, but it good to see a NBA superstar content with playing for a small market team. Sure his small market team is extremely good and gave the NBA Champion Lakers a run for their money, but Durant is happy with being the face of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kudos KD.
Ray Allen 2 years/$20 million with the Celtics. Ray Allen resigned with the Celtics for two years and twenty million dollars. This was the last puzzle piece to bring back the “Big 3″ along with their coach, Doc Rivers, for another run at the title. The Celtics have been reported to reached out to Shaquille O’Neal and Kwame Brown (I hope this is not true) to show mild interest. We will keep you posted.
