BREAKING NEWS, Mike Miller Signs with the Heat:

The Heat have added a 5th player to their roster as Mike Miller has apparently agreed to a 5-year/$30 million deal around 2AM according to the ESPN bottom line.  This signing was the easiest decision in the world for Mike Miller.  He has no solidified this Heat roster for a very reasonable price for a guy who is good at all the little intangibles.  He is now the 4th option for this team an another starter at the possible SF position if LeBron somehow manages to play the PF position.  This is a great signing for the Heat, but where the heck are they getting all this money from!

David Lee Going to Warriors in Sign and Trade:

Literally moments after LeBron announced he was going to the Heat the Knicks announced they are trading David Lee to the Warriors in exchange for Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike.  David Lee will sign a 6-year/$80 million deal.  This is a good move for the Knicks because there was NO SHOT Lee was going to resign with the Knicks and Randolph is still a very young player who will turn out to be a pretty decent power forward in his own right.  Kelenna Azubuike is instant offense and should provide a spark off the bench.

Brandon Haywood Still a Mav:

Brandon Haywood has proven he is better than Dampier; not a great center but just better than Dampier.  Haywood signed a 6-year/$55 million deal to remain a Maverick and will get a chance to play an entire season with them in 2010-2011.  Haywood is definitely an upgrade offensively over Dampier and also has a slight edge in the rebounding department as well.

Heat Free Up Cap Space:

The Heat are freeing up MORE cap space for LeBron, Wade and Bosh by dumping the former #2 overall pick Michael Beasley to the T-Wolves for a second round pick… OUCH.  The Heat literally gave up on Beasley and basically traded him for the equivalent of 5 Spalding Indoor/Outdoor basketballs.  The two teams are also swapping first round picks in the future.

Celtics Found a Backup Center:

The Celtics have agreed to sign Jermaine O’Neal to a 2-year/$11.5 million deal to become the backup center to Kendrick Perkins.  If healthy, O’Neal still have potential to be a decent center in the NBA but to have him as a backup will be a huge boost to the Celtics because they now have an offensive minded center which Perkins is not.  I say O’Neal has an impact but will only play 55 games.
