R.I.P. Manute Bol

20 June 2010 288 views No Comment

Manute Bol, the 7’7” Sudanese shot-blocking specialist, passed away yesterday due to complications from a severe kidney disease and a painful skin condition. Bol was unique in that he is one of the tallest players ever to wear a uniform. He played for the Philadelphia, Golden State, Miami, and Washington where he had career averages of 2.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks. He led the NBA in blocks during the ’85-’86 season, and the ’88-’89 season.

Aside from his efforts on the basketball court, Bol was devoted to the humanitarian cause in Africa, including his home nation of Sudan.

R.I.P. Manute!
