News and Rumors: Salmons Opts Out, Bucks Busy With Trades, Nets Trading 3rd Overall Pick?
Salmons Opts Out:
The Bucks got some good news and some bad news today. First the bad news; John Salmons has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Bucks. With the Bucks Salmons was a completely different player, HE was the one who led the Bucks to the playoffs. There was a resurgance in Milwaukee as soon as Salmons came to the team. He averaged nearly 20 ppg for the Bucks in just 30 games.
Bucks Acquire Maggette:
The Bucks have quickly replaced Salmons by acquiring Corey Maggette from the Warriors, along with the 44th overall pick in exchange for Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric (two huge losses, NOT). Maggette should fit in nicely as the same role as Salmons. Maggette has an bad image in the NBA because he was never on a good team and is injury prone but Maggette is a talented scorer when healthy.
Bucks also acquire CDR from Nets:
The Nets have traded Chris Douglas-Roberts after he was in the dog house for whatever reason after Kiki took offer for the Nets as iterm suck coach. The Nets drafted CDR in 2008 as the 40th overall pick and he showed signs of brilliance at times last year and other times I almost forgot he was on the team. I hope he makes the Nets kick themselves in the ass because he is a pure scorer and the Nets gave up on him too early in exchange for a second round pick this year.
Rumor:
The Nets are thinking of taking Wesley Johnson 3rd overall but they also know that the Wolves would love to snag him at #5. It’s been said that the Nets are willing to trade down and swap picks with the Wolves (to guarantee the Wolves Johnson at #3) and gain another first rounder from the T-Wolves. I kind of like this idea becasue the Nets would have the #5 and #16 pick but they would likely draft Cousins and lose out on Favors at #5. We shall see what happens in 2 days!
