Mike Brown: Do Not Pass Go and Do Not Collect 4.5 Million Dollars

Well done Cleveland, this is by far your best play in the postseason.

Mike Brown, after 5 seasons and no championships with ‘The Chosen One’ under his command, was fired just before midnight of Sunday evening by the Cavs front office so Brown could not collect 4.5 million buckaroos.

It’s about time! It may have been a prick move to wait this long since it was overdue, but it was the right one. Brown had no idea how to control his team, conduct a consistent game plan, or simply get emotional about anything. If nobody saw the end of Game 6 against the Celtics in the Conference Semifinals, his team absolutely gave up on him, and it wasn’t in an undertone type of fashion. It was blatantly evident that no one respected his demeanor, presence, or conduct. Brown prayed for his team to foul and hustle, but every player, including LeBron James, did not respond; wait they responded, just in the opposite matter. His team walked up the court with 1:30 left in the game without a care in the world. How can that happen? I have never seen that before in a playoff game with elimination status on the line, and I better not see it again. It is despicable and disgraceful.

And yes, is it disrespectful for what the entire Cavs team pulled on Brown? Absolutely. However, that is the coaches responsibility, your players are a reflection of you, and if their pulling those type of antics, it’s entirely simple what needs to be done. I have no idea why they waited so long. The Cavaliers were never going to hoist up the Larry O’Brien trophy with him as the team’s conductor. He doesn’t have the tools to contain a personality like LeBron and focus his God-crafted talents to formulate a successful franchise. I don’t know how no one saw this before, especially the way the team collapsed against Orlando in the Eastern Conference Finals one year ago.

Brown was more of a baby sitter than anything:

Owner Daniel Gilbert: Is LeBron happy, Michael?

Mike Brown: (presses his glasses into his forehead) ahhhhh…yep.

DG: Excellent, we should win a championship then.

MB: (opens mouth slightly) ahhhhhh…yep.

…riveting

Looking into the future, it was the right move, because in this next crucial month, Gilbert is going to have pull some Houdini moves to keep ‘The King’ in Cleveland. Firing Brown helps but doesn’t alter anything. This franchise is done. They are not going to be good in the next few years and most likely, be at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Their only future lies in the hands of Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, and JJ Hickson…yeah, good luck with that.

Don’t worry Cleveland, Drew Carey thinks you guys rock.

This is The Ref signaling I’m out until next time and remember: We miss calls, you miss lay ups.

Is it safe to say Mike Brown won’t be coaching in the NBA for quite a while? or ever?
