Magic Survive Gut Check Game

I sense a Bro-mance after this series is over

Magic 96, Celtics 92 (OT – Celtics lead 3-1)

Down 3-0 and hearing the rumors that they already gave up, the Orlando Magic went into Boston and found a way to win in overtime.  Up seven with 2:15 left to play in regulation, the Magic surrendered their lead giving Boston a chance to win the game.  As Paul Pierce set up for the game winning shot, much like he did earlier in the playoffs against the Heat, he fumbled the ball.  As both teams dove for the ball, time expired setting up overtime.

He still scored..

In the extra period, Dwight Howard would not be denied.  He ended up with 32 points, 16 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots.  Jameer Nelson also stepped up scoring 23 points.  It was also impressive to see the Magic win with Vince Carter scoring 3 points on 1 of 9 from the field.  Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 32 points but missed two wide open threes that would have cut the lead to one in the last 20 seconds of overtime.  Ray Allen played well hitting five three pointers and finished with 22 points.

After Game 4 here is what you need to know…

1.  The Magic finally win. Dwight and Jameer stepped up in a gut check game and gave the Magic their first win of the series.  Dwight was unstoppable and Jameer attacked the paint opening up shots for the rest of his team.  Now can these two keep their play at least this level?  They will both need to play outstanding to give the Magic a chance to win three more games before the Celtics win one.

2.  Vince Carter, come on man!! VC’s stat line: 3 points (1-9 FG) 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, 21 minutes.  For real even if Dwight Howard plays like Superman, if VC puts up another game like this, the Magic will be going home.

3.  Rondo is the key. Rondo (9 points, 8 assists, 3 steals) is the key for the Celtics the rest of the way.  Pierce and Allen have drank from the fountain of youth and playing as if they are in their prime.  In game 5 Rondo will be counted on to keep Jameer Nelson from attacking the basket.  It seemed like every time Nelson wiggled his way into the paint Dwight Howard found the open spot setting up an easy dunk or lay in.
