Nuggets Win; Nellie is the All-Time Most Winningest Coach; Bobcats are Going to the Playoffs!
Nuggets 98, Thunder 94
In the midst of a round end to the season and down 13 points in the fourth quarter, Chauney Billups of the Nuggets made a stand. Mr. Big Shot scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half as the Denver Nuggets did not let the Thunder score a basket in the final 9 minutes of the game. Billups two free throws with a minute to play gave the Nuggets a 96 to 94 lead. Kevin Durant, who finished with 33 points had a chance to tie the game. Durant missed a shot in the lane in the final seconds as Carmelo Anthony grabbed the rebound and sank two free throws to seal the deal. Melo added 24 points but shot seven of twenty-one from the field.
Warriors 116, T-Wovles 107
Chalk up another win for Coach Don Nelson of the Golden State Warriors. His 1,333rd of his career to be exact. Tonight Coach Don Nelson because the most winningest coach in NBA history as he passed Lenny Wilkens. For his career Nelson has 1,333 wins and 1,061 losses for this career. Stephen Curry had an unbelievable game. Curry finished with 27 points, 14 assists, 8 rebounds, and 7 steals! That boy was ballin’ tonight. Anthony Tolliver led the Warriors with 34 points and 8 rebounds. All five Timberwolves were in double figures including Darko Milic (He starts for them?!?!?!?!) Kevin Love scored 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the loss.
Bobcats 104, Hornets 103
No, that was not a typo. For the first time in their short history, the Charlotte Bobcats are going to the playoffs! Led by Captain Jack (Stephen Jackson), the Bobcats held off a feverish comeback and were actually down by eight at one point in the fourth quarter to hold on and beat the New Orleans Hornets. Jackson led the Bobcats with 29 points. DJ Augustin (14 points) his the biggest three pointer of his career in the final minutes to give the Bobcats a 103-102 lead. The Hornets were led by the Rookie Duo of Marcus Thornton and Darren Collison. These two players are quickly becoming two of my favorite players to watch in the league. Thornton made it rain all over the court with 36 points (4 three pointers) and Darren Collison sliced and diced his way for 24 points to go along with his 9 assists. Down two in the final seconds Collison had a chance to tie the game, but his floater clanged off the rim.
