Imagine this…

You’re an NBA player, out with an injury, and you’re leaving the arena after a big win against an opponent you haven’t beaten all year which keeps your team from continuing to slide down the conference standings. Then, you get to your car giant Range Rover, open the door, and TONS of popcorn comes tumbling out of it.

APRIL FOOLS!!!!  (But that’s subjective…)

This is the case of Kenyon Martin of the Denver Nuggets, who was pranked on April 1 after a big win over the Blazers at the Pepsi Center. Normally these jokes lead to laughter or something like that, but I’m starting to think you realize how K-Mart took it. Enjoy the quotes!

“That ain’t no [expletive] joke. I’m going to find out who did it … put my [expletive] hands on one of y’all. I’m going to put my hands on whoever did it. You better believe that. It’s [expletive] personal. You better believe it.”

So who did it?? Turns out it was the Nuggets former ball boy who got into the locker room, took K-Mart’s car keys and filled his Range Rover with buttered popcorn. Oh yeah, I failed to mention that Martin’s car has a white interior. HA!

Now, I’ve seen Mr. Martin in his hayday in NJ play very often, and he is a bad boy. Not much else I can add there. So am I shocked at his reaction? No way Jose. Also, despite his current injury, he added more:

“How ’bout if I don’t play in the playoffs until somebody tells me who did it,” Martin said more than once.

Ok, now it just got serious. This is how you know K-Mart isn’t joking too. I don’t think he would say something like skipping the playoffs unless he was completely pissed off. I must add that Martin was reportedly most upset about the fact that something like that could happen (access to his car keys) rather than the idea that it did happen. However, the former ball boy did agree to pay for the damage and he apologized to K-Mart.

At the end of the day, this is bad news for the Nuggets, who really needed to hang together after their coach George Karl has started to miss games for throat cancer treatment and they have slid from second in the West to fifth place. This is the kind of things that will drive a fan crazy and prevent me from being a fan of that team. Hence, I do not like the Nuggets.

And I leave you with one piece of advice that I pray you pass on to your family and friends: Do not pull an April Fool’s joke on Kenyon Martin.
