Shaq Done for the Regular Season; Al Jefferson Suspended
Shaq is heading to Baltimore on Monday to take care of his severly sprained thumb which he injured against the Celtics last week going up for a dunk when he was fouled. On one hand it’s funny because Shaq sprained his thumb and acted like nothing even happened, but if I had done something like that you’d know it; that’s why Shaq is the closest thing to Superman and I’m sitting here writing about it.
Shaq is having surgery on his thumb and the typical recovery time is 6-9 weeks and there are 7 weeks left in the regular season. You do the math but Shaq is likely done for the regular season, but he will without a doubt be ready for the playoffs (whether he is deemed healthy by team doctors or not… it’s the playoffs!). It is now essential that the Cavs re-sign Ilgauskas to fill in that starting center role for Shaq.
Al Jefferson was suspended two games without pay by the Timberwolves today after Jefferson was arrested for driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning. Obviously, as far as the team winning and losing is concerned this isn’t a big deal but when your franchise player and leader on the team is getting DWI’s then it’s definitely a good move to suspend him for a few games. In a statement yesterday Jefferson said:
“I want to apologize to the entire Timberwolves organization, owner Glen Taylor, my teammates, coaches and Wolves fans everywhere for my actions last night. I made a very poor decision and I am truly sorry for that. As a leader on this team, I know that more is expected of me, and I am disappointed in myself.”
