Rookie Rankings: Week 20

Just a couple more weeks until the season is over, and before you know it the ROY award will be announced.  A few guys are coming on late and there are a few mainstays in the rankings as well, so who will battle it out until the last day and take the ROY award?  Well if you ask me it’s…

1. Tyreke Evans – I feel like a broken record talking about Evans but he is definitely worthy of ROY.  He has been the most consistant rookie from day 1 and despite the Kings awful record he still goes and gets it every night averaging 20.3 ppg to lead all rookies in addition to a shooting percentage of 46%, who said he couldn’t shoot?

2. Stephen Curry – Curry leads all rookies with 128 3-point makes and even with the line a little further back than it was in college, it clearly hasn’t affected him at all.  He is shooting the 3-ball at 42%, while averaging 16.4 ppg.

3. Brandon Jennings – From end-to-end Jennings is the quickest rookie in the league.  He’s a streaky shooter, yes, but at his age I’ve already seen him start to take over games like he is a 10-year veteran which is key for the Bucks who are making a push for the playoffs.

4. Darren Collison – If it weren’t for Chris Paul being on the Hornets, Collison would be just as good anywhere else around the league.  He definitely fits the mold of a Jason Kidd/Chris Paul looking to pass first and at the same time score buckets shooting 48% from anywhere within the arc, that’s impressive.

5. Marcus Thorton – Ty Lawson would be in this spot but he hasn’t played in March due to an injury so I feel like he may fade in the actual ROY standings.  Thorton continues to put up huge scoring numbers but it’s just not enough to carry the Hornets into the playoffs.
