Grizzlies Set Franchise Record, Dallas Get Lucky #13, Raptors Falling Fast

Grizzlies 111, Celtics 91

The Celtics lose by 20 at home, yet again, and looked terrible in the process.  The Grizzly Bears have now won a franchise best 7 consecutive road games with Rudy Gay leading the way.  Gay had 28 points on 10-18 shooting to go along with 8 rebounds.  He also had a few nice acrobatic dunks to silent the Boston crowd.  This game was never really a game and the lead was double digits for most of the night.

Marcus Williams, yes that Marcus Williams, had 16 points and 5 assists off the bench for the Grizz and Sam Young put in 11 off the bench as well.  The Grizzlies outrebounded the Celtics 48-29 as well as outshot them 55% to 43% including 9-16 from 3 for the Grizzlies.

Mavs 96, Nets 87

Well it was a valiant effort by the Nets but we all knew who was winning this game.  The Nets actually had a lead of 14 points after the first but the Nets were outscored 31-15 in the 3rd. They are by far the worst 3rd quarter team in the NBA.  The Mavs have extended their streak to a NBA season high (tied with the Cavs) of 13 games.  Mark Cuban now looks like an evil genius with this Caron Butler trade and the Mavs next few opponents are definitely beatable.  I can honestly see them winning 18 in a row.

Jason Kidd had 20-9 against his old team and the bright spot for the Nets was Terrence Williams with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Earlier in the day a poll was released that was based on the response of 175 players in the NBA asking what team had the least chance to win an NBA Championship within the next 5 years.  The Nets WON the poll for least likely to win with 33% of the vote!  Even the Clippers had a better percentage.  I really hope LeBron goes to NJ now.

Kings 113, Raptors 90

WOWzers.  For a team who is supposed to be a playoff contender to lose by 23 to the Kings, c’mon.  That’s not a playoff team if you ask me.  It was a career night for the Kings’ Tyreke Evans though who recorded his first triple-double of his young career with 19-10-10.  The Kings shot 50% on the night and had a huge +19 rebounding margin.  Newest King Carl Landry is one of the bright spots for the Kings in his new starting role.  He is averaging 17-7.

This game is a wakeup call for the Raptors.  In nearly 40 minutes of play Bosh was only able to snag 5 rebounds and the Raptors have now slipped to 6th in the East.  Obviously they don’t want to be there but in reality that may be a better matchup for them to face the Celtics.  Should be interesting but they need to pick it up, fo’ sho’.

by THAT Marcus Williams, do you mean the pg that went to UCANt or the sf that went to Arizona?

    Both are NBA busts.
