Anthony’s 45 No Match for Houston, The Knicks Help the Sixers Increase Their Lottery Chances, & The C’s Romp Detroit
Rockets 125, Nuggets 123
Carmelo dropped 45 points, but unfortunately couldn’t knock down the go ahead three at the buzzer to win this one. Aaron Brooks meanwhile had 31 points, including a huge jumper to give Houston the lead with a little under 3 seconds to go. This game was
very fun to watch, and chock full of offense. Kevin Martin had 29 points, and Luis Scola continued to stay hot with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Denver controlled most of this game, led by ‘Melo’s crazy scoring output, but at the end of the day, the Rockets decided to play defense and lock Denver down. Denver played the role that the Lakers participate in from time to time, which is to watch their superstar play, while not playing themselves. Big win for the Rockets. “Eh” loss for the Nuggets.
Knicks 94, Sixers 84
As a Sixers fan, I was nervous about this game. I really wanted them to lose, but the Knicks are so bad, that you never know. The reason I want my favorite team to lose is to increase their chances at a better lottery pick. Finally, the Knicks treated me well and got the job done. Toney Douglas had 20 points and 7 assists, while Danilo Gallinari had 21 points off of 8 of 15 shooting. Unsurprisingly, no player on the Sixers topped 20 points, however rookie Jrue Holiday continues to play well, as he had 18 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds. Andre Iguodala played like Gerald Wallace, compiling 17 rebounds and 14 points. I attribute his high rebound totals to the amount of missed shots from both of these horrible teams (sigh).
Celtics 119, Detroit 93
This could have been a trap game for the C’s, but they did what they were supposed to do by shillacking the Pistons at home. Seven players scored in the double digits for the Celtics, and Rajon Rondo only had 3 points. The best part about this game from the Celtics’ standpoint, was that they were able to rest their starters for the whole fourth quarter. What a long way the Pistons have come from their championship days. JOE DUMARS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING OVER THERE BRO!? The funniest stat of this game, was the fact that the Celtics somehow managed to get charged with two technical fouls. LOL.
