First, I agree with Mike whole-heartedly from an on court perspective.

But, Tyrus Thomas was dealt so the Bulls wouldn't have to worry about his restricted free agent status this next season...meanwhile getting two expiring contracts and a first rounder in return.

The Bulls are doing what the Nets came into the season trying to do, which was make the playoffs with a young core, while awaiting the summer to sign a superstar to take them to the next level. Wade, anyone?

As a Bulls fan, I do not like this trade. The Bulls are now littered with under 6'4" guards. Giving up a contributing power forward for 2 MORE short guards is stupid. Thomas was gone after the season anyway, and the pick isn't likely to be amazing. This trade just perpetuates a Guard log jam and thins out an already thin front line. Trading Thomas for a SF would have been ideal. Don't get clever and try to say Devin Brown or Hakeem Warrick can play SF. That's just silly. One is too small, the other is an offensive liabilty at the 3.

Depth Chart
PG - Rose, Pargo, LawIV, Hunter
SG - Hinrich, Brown, Flip to My Lou
SF - Deng and.....
PF - Taj, Hakeem Warrick, James "I should be in the UFC" Johnson
C - Noah, Miller
INJ - Joe Alexander, Jerome "YEAH I'M STILL ALIVE" James

I understand your view point, but Tyrus Thomas started playing well last year in the playoffs and in the beginning of this year. The Bulls developed Taj Gibson while he was injured, which made Thomas expendable.

The Bulls get rid of Salmons and upgrade with a pure scorer in Murray.

A solid addition by both squads.

I'm not so sure about this one. Flip has been solid for this team, he's that hard nose player that they need. Tyrus Thomas has been a flop for the last 3 years and I'm not so sure I see any improvement in the near future; in addition to that they lose a first rounder which may be a good pick if they don't make the playoffs.

I guess it will help both teams, but I don't like the trade for those reasons.

What a great and balanced trade. It really does help both teams equally.

Nice job by both organizations.
