Orlando’s ‘Magic’al 3rd Quarter Embarasses Boston, Bosh Wills Velociraptors to Win

Magic 96, Celtics 89

First off, I’d like to say that this is not my normal wrap-up coverage night, but The Ref (who adores Ray Allen and any team he is on) and Duts (who adores shamrocks and anything else green, specifically Celtic green) who normally have this night were not in the right state of mind to be covering this game. Not only that, but its Super Bowl Sunday, and you know that they’re trying to ‘forget’ what happened earlier in the day.

So here comes Shooter to the rescue!

Unfortunately for them, and all Celtics fans, I cannot change the outcome of this game… I can sum up this game in three words:

1) The
2) Third
3) Quarter

Yes, one quarter can change a game, and it certainly did on Sunday afternoon in Beantown. This is literally how I can explain the third quarter: I fell asleep at halftime when the Celtics led by 11 (51-40) and when I woke up the Magic led by 14 (76-62). WOW!! Now I know why the two of them didn’t want to cover this game…!

This game actually exemplifies the Celtics season pretty well. They were up big, made you think they were a really good team, then in the blink of an eye you came to realize that the C’s really weren’t that great anymore. Think about it…

Vince Carter and Dwight Howard each scored nine points in the third quarter as VC ended up with 20 pts and Howard ended up with 16 pts, 13 rebs. The Magic not only came back for a big road win, but they also are now ahead of the Celtics in the Eastern Conference standings at second place.

What’s to come out of this for the Celtics? We’ll have to see – but they played so poorly in that one monster quarter, they will have to do something to change the 2010 culture.

Hey, Ref & Duts – any advice?

Raptors 115, Kings 104

In lesser basketball news…. (haha) The Raptors made a comeback of their own against the Kings at home.

Chris Bosh was an absolute beast. He could not be contained as he single handedly won the game for the Raptors, as he has so often this year. Bosh shot 14-18 from the field en route to 36 points and 11 rebounds. The Velociraptors are now 19-6 at home and 28-23 overall. Who knew!?

Antoine Wright scored 16 points off the bench for Toronto, and in case you’re wondering, yes that’s one that was on the Nets a few years ago. I literally had to look it up. And now I’m realizing that probably 1% of the people who read this actually know who this is, and that includes Nets fans.

This game was pretty boring, so I’m not going to say anything else, while I finish watching the Super Bowl.

    Two words. POOR. COACHING.

I wasn’t a believer in the people who said Doc Rivers is a bad coach with a ton of talent. But now I’m really starting to question if the real reason has done well was because he finally had someone talented not named Paul Pierce.

I (un)fortunately was on the wonderful Interstate 95 for most of the afternoon. But after watching highlights of the third quarter, it begs the question –

“What the @%$# did you tell your team at halftime?!? Roll over and play dead?”

This is completely inexcusable. I almost made a TRBL Celtics jersey.
