Nets, Bulls, Hawks and Warriors All Stink (On Tuesday Night)
Pistons 97, Nets 93
The one team who I may have trashed and bashed more this season than my own favorite team (Nets) is the Detroit Pistons. Last night the Nets had a shot to prove to me they hate the Pistons just as much but let that opportunity slip away, at home nonetheless, due to another miserable 3rd quarter. The Nets have to be averaging under 20 ppg in the 3rd quarter, they just suck after halftime.
For the 9,417 people who attended this game the fans got to see a great game from Rip Hamilton who had 22-7-5. For the Nets Devin Harris had a Harris-like game dropping 24 points and dishing out 14 dimes. Brook Lopez also had 27-7 but that didn’t help the outcome of this game.
Clown of the game: CDR. 9 minutes, 0-1? What happened to the aggressive CDR who attacked the basketball all day!
Clippers 90, Bulls 82
And this is why the Bulls aren’t really that good. They lost to the Clippers at home on a night where they won the battle of the boards and shot 17-21 from the FT line but they just an pathetic 38% including 7-20 from D-Rose. For the Clippers, Chris Kaman and Eric Gordon combined for 45 points and 17 rebounds as they led their team to victory. Baron Davis continues to struggle, 4-13 shooting with 8 points and 6 turnovers, to prove that the Clippers really are a jinx.
Two things I knew going into this game: 1. No one was going to stop KD. 2. No one was going to stop Joe Johnson. Outcome? KD had 33 points (14-14 FT) and 11 rebounds. Joe Johnson had 37 points on 13-20 shooting. This must have been a great game to be at in OKC. The Thunder were looking for a huge home win and they got it on Tuesday. They outrebounded the Hawks 45-35 despite the Hawks being a much better rebounding team. The Thunder committed just 6 turnovers as well and with low totals like that and KD scoring the way he did they can beat anyone.
Rockets 119, Warriors 97
No, Monta Ellis didn’t drop 50 this game but he did drop 34 points in the loss to Houston. It was actually a good game for Monta who only had 2 turnovers as well but it wasn’t enough to be the Rockets. Landry and Brooks each had 24 points and Chuck Hayes led the way with 13 rebounds. The Rockets outrebounded the Warriors 57-35! So you KNOW the Warriors must have shot bad… and they did at just under 42%. Suprisingly the Rockets had 16 turnovers to just 6 for the Warriors but when you shoot 50% and the other team shoots so low, it’s tough to lose.
