Nate Robinson Dunks His Way to Celtics

17 February 2010 7,455 views 15 Comments

Looks like Nate Robinson can join the other Celtics that impressed on All-Star Saturday Night…

Nate the Great (?) has been traded to the Boston Celtics in a deal first reported by our boy JB. The Knicks reportedly will recieve Eddie House and a second round pick. This trade should be finalized sometime in the next 24 hours, so don’t be confused by the speculation.

Apparently the Celtics are really high on Nate, who had the option of not being traded I heard. This came out after the Grizzlies expressed interest in him but a deal could not get done. Not only this, but Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni loves Eddie House – please don’t ask me why he has any interest in him at all.

Does this deal push the Celtics back into the elite? NO! Does this deal fix their ‘locker room issues’? NO!

So why make this move?

Well, Nate is sure to give the team a jolt, which is something they desperately needed. The team has been on a decline since Christmas and this could give them some energy off the bench. I think it’s pretty safe to say Eddie House wasn’t providing that energy.

Keep in mind, the details could change in the coming hours, but a deal is 95% likely to get done.

Check back to the bottom of this post for an update if it happens!

UPDATE (2/18 12:28AM) – This deal is even more likely to get done as the Knicks acquire Brian Cardinal in order to waive him and make room for another player from the Celtics. Looks like that player is going to be JR Giddens. More details to come…

UPDATE (2/18 12:34PM) – The Knicks will send Nate Robinson and a second player to Boston for Eddie House, J.R. Giddens, and Bill Walker. The identity of the second Knicks’ player has not been released.

UPDATE (2/18 1:03PM) - The other Knicks player to be traded with Robinson is reportedly Marcus Landry.

Nate Robinson had a no trade clause and said he would only go to the Magic, Celtics or the Lakers. Hmm, those are good choices haha.

He will definitely provide energy off the bench but will not make them a championship team nonetheless. I like this deal because the Celtics don’t really care about House and it doesn’t seem like they intend to build their team with 2nd round picks in the future (Walker, Giddens).

Also Nate is a free agent and may want to re-sign with the C’s if they give him enough $$$.

Grade for the Celtics – A
Grade for the Knicks – C+

This deal is pointless to me.

At least Eddie House can consistently knock down the three. Nate Robinson can consistently be inconsistent. I could be proven wrong, but I don’t think this trade does much for any team.

The Knicks won on this trade.

Nate is emotional and Doc Rivers is not the coach that can handle him. I say he will hurt this team more than help. He can’t play with Rondo. This trade just gave more chemistry issues to an already confused team.

Eddie House fits in D’Antoni’s system and provided good minutes in Phoenix. The Knicks also can resign him for cheap since House loves playing for the Knicks coach.

I understand the chemistry issues…but I LOVE THIS DEAL. LOVE IT!!!!

I think Nate answers the question as the guy who can explode coming off the bench. But it also questions the health of Marquis Daniels – his thumb must have had a setback that we don’t know about.

NATE-THE-GREAT-IN-GREEN! HAHAHA!!! I AM SO PUMPED.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal. I must say you have done a awesome job with this. In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Safari. Excellent Blog!
