Butler Casts Magic Spell, Rockets Crash Grizz, and a Shout Out to Everything Sixers

Wizards 92, Magic 91

Inexcusable Orlando, simply inexcusable.

The Magic led this game 32-13 after the first quarter, and even held a 15 point lead at halftime. That didn’t mean squat to Wizards F Caron Butler, who not only scored 31 points, but he also hit the go-ahead, game-winning basket with 0.5 seconds left. Not only did this shot beat the buzzer, but it was a fade away from the corner and an extremely tough shot. Personally, I’ve been waiting for Butler to turn it on this year, especially with the prospective of being traded.

For the Magic, Vince Carter was 5-17 from the field for 21 points – hmm.. I guess he’s NOT back to what he should be doing. Sure, the points are there, but he missed 12 shots, that’s stinky – or as G would say, “that’s pee”.

Rockets 101, Grizzlies 83

Its official, the Grizzlies are currently in the midst of an NBAtoday.net jinx.

Now it may not be quite as bad as the Sports Illustrated jinx , but after being on a high for a few weeks, the Grizzly Bears have come back down to earth. They were flat out beat by the Rockets on Friday night, in a game that was very physical, at least from one team. Houston outrebounded Memphis 50-35, which cannot happen in any game, especially not at home. But even more so, that cannot happen if you want to make the playoffs in the West.

The most shocking thing about this game has to be the play of Joey Dorsey. Actually maybe even more shocking than his play was the fact that he actually played! Dorsey played at the University of Memphis and he had some sort of homecoming. Check out the splits coming into the game compared to Friday’s stats:

Career   Friday at Memphis
2 Points 7
1 for 4 Field Goals 3 for 5
4 Rebounds 12
1 Assists 1
0 Blocks 1
0 Steals 1

Hawks 91, Bulls 81

Give the Bulls credit for fighting, but they were beat by a much better team in Atlanta. The Hawks provided quite a show on Friday night, as each team put on quite a dunk show. Just about every player had a huge dunk in this game, including Jason Collins. Ok, ok, just kidding, haha. You should have realized I was kidding when I said that Jason Collins dunked (in reality, he didn’t even play, as usual).

But for real, Derrick Rose (twice) and about three different Hawks made highlight reel dunks in this game. The crowd in Hot-lanta was definitely amped up.

More than anything else though, this was Josh Smith’s night. The non-all-star picked up his second career triple-double with 18 pts, 14 rebs, and 10 asts. Too bad he didn’t have his block party going or else it could have been a quadruple-double. Yowza!

Pants on the ground guy!!

Celtics 96, Nets 87

I don’t think the Nets have beat the Celtics in Boston since the 2002 playoffs. Then again, I don’t think the Nets have beaten the Celtics at all since then.

The Nets actually had a chance to win their fifth game of the year in Boston, but they just didn’t have enough – what else is new. New Jersey actually led by one entering the final quarter, but they went on to score only 14 points to close out the game. Needless to say, they lost.

However, as a Nets fan, this is still a W in my book. To go to Boston in a lost season and lose by 9, AND to give the C’s a scare at home. That is pretty cool.

Sad, I have to resort to the Nets losing to a good team to remain happy.

Sixers 101, Hornets 94

Onto another trbl team, but this is a trbl team that has won its third straight game!!

Congratulations to the Sixers, Allen Iverson (who didn’t even play), Eddie Jordan (who should be fired regardless), Dr. J (the most famous Sixer), Andre Iguodala (who should be traded), Wilt Chamberlain (100 point game), Thaddeus Young (who actually had a really good game), and of course G (who probably hardly cares about this win because he gave me this game to cover in wrap-ups instead of keeping it for himself).

I care, but as cool as a win streak is, I just hope this doesn’t mean the sixers don’t make any changes at the deadline.

Bulls looked good tonite, but the hawks are legit.

Nets played tough and Devin Harris was finally aggressive. What’s up with cdr?

My grizzlybears will be alright. They need yo get back to playing defense and playing with a chip on thir shoulders.
