What to Watch for: Jan 25 – 31
What an incrbl season it has been so far in the NBA. It’s been so exciting to the see the best teams in the league square off (Cavs/Lakers) and the great up-and-coming teams matchup as well (Grizzlies/Thunder). This coming week is more of the same, so don’t miss any of the NBA action this week!
Monday
Cavaliers @ Heat – Last time these two teams met, LeBron said something stupid. So let’s just make sure this is more about the game rather than him opening his mouth.
Magic @ Grizzlies – The Grizz are officially the hot team of the moment in the NBAtoday.net staff. We may not have all of them as believers, but I will be trying to sway them on a weekly basis to watch out for this team.
Suns @ Jazz – You would have thought before the season that these two teams were givens for making the playoffs, even in the competitive Western Conference. But I highlight this battle because it turns out that they are going to be fighting each other for a spot to play in the postseason.
Tuesday
Bobcats @ Suns – The Bobcats are going to win this game. I’m calling it. Yes, that’s despite the Suns record at home and the Bobcats struggles on the road. And if they don’t win it, then I guess there will be no shock, haha.
Wednesday
Bulls @ Thunder – Two of the younger teams in the NBA square off in the OKC. Don’t miss Derrick Rose against Russell Westbrook. Underrated matchup of the game goes to Tyrus Thomas and Kevin Durant.
Hawks @ Spurs – Both of these teams have so many questions, but they will likely have home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. I want to see the athletic side of the Spurs come out for this game, but I do wonder if anyone will be able to stop Tim Duncan.
Thursday

Celtics @ Magic – Couple of good games on TNT on Thursday, starting with the Celts and Magic from Orlando. KG is back, so no excuses for the Celtics to give it their all and give the Magic a run for their money.
Mavericks @ Suns – If this game was in Dallas, the Mavs would roll. But since the game is in Phoenix, I think this will be a very close game. The Suns will have to play small ball to win though, because the Mavs’ big men are playing VERY well of late.
Friday
Celtics @ Hawks – The Hawks have won all three matchups this year, so the Celtics may feel a need to prove something in this game. Unfortunately for Boston, they will have to play this game after playing the night before. That will likely spell a sweep for Atlanta.
Nuggets @ Thunder – JB’s heart will be torn in this game as his two favorite teams meet in Oklahoma City. Then again, Renaldo Balkman will not get into the game, so I guess he’ll be rooting for the Thundercats!!
Saturday
Hawks @ Magic – It’s a Southeast division battle in Orlando on Saturday, as these two teams will not back down in their attempt to win the division. I’d probably side with the Magic in this one, but the Hawks may need to prove to me that they can win on the road by winning this one.
Sunday
Nuggets @ Spurs – Man, the West is just full of a bunch of good teams. You don’t even know how many West matchups there are each week that I can’t even cover. Two All-Star Game starters will match up in this one though, with Carmelo Anthony meeting Tim Duncan.
Lakers @ Celtics – Finals preview? Quite possibly. Not only is this a rematch of the 2008 NBA Finals, but this could be the beginning of a story that ends in June. I love how much these two teams and towns still hate each other.

Questions of the Week
- Can the Suns win again as they go back on the road?
- Will any significant trades go down as the deadline approaches?
- Will the Nets be able to pick up a win in any of three winnable home games (Clips, Wiz, Sixers)?
- Are the Cavs as good as advertised despite multiple injuries to their backcourt?
- How will the Thunder be able to bounce back after losing two in a row?
