Spurs Win Without Duncan, Dirk Sets Milestone, Rockets Win in 3OTs
This was a featured game in our podcast this past week and it didn’t disappoint. If you look at the box score you may have thought the Thunder were out of this game by the first after being outscored 35-18 but they fought back to cut the lead to 12 at half. In a 3rd quarter romping the Thunder actually pulled ahead by 1 but the game went to OT where Jefferson put the game away for the Spurs who are now 24-13.
Blair had himself a career evening scoring 28 points and grabbing 21 rebounds (including 10 offensive)!
Clown of the game: Manu Ginobili. He was 0-10 tonight from the field with just 2 points.
Lakers 100, Mavs 95
Kobe is back and was immediately an impact… he hit the game winning shot just as Shooter predicted in one of our posts. Granted the shot was made with 28.9 seconds but a game winner non the less.
Dirk Nowitzki scored a game high 30 points and hit a milestone. Dirk becomes the 34th player in NBA history to score 20,000 points. He is definitely one of the most elite scorer in NBA history.
Clown of the game: Jason Terry. Terry is the spark plug for this team so when he goes 2-12 the Mavs are likely to lose and that was the case tonight.
Rockets 120, Timberwolves 114 (3 OT)
Not one, not two, but THREE overtimes it took before the outcome of this game was determined. The Rockets won and it was a heartbreaking loss for the Wolves who outrebounded the Rockets on the night 65-58 (that’s so many rebounds). Aaron Brooks when OFF in this game, dropping a career high 43 points on 14-30 shooting including 6-9 from long range. Every Rockets starterd scored double-digits as did 6th man Carl Landry. Aaron Brooks play a few seconds shy of 60 minutes in this game; not even Monta Ellis has done that this year (he just plays 48 every night)!
The Wolves weren’t too shabby themselves. Al Jefferson had a monster game with 26-26, that’s right 26 rebounds! Kevin Love had 13 rebounds but was a miserable 2-10 from the field with just 8 points.
Clown of the game: Jonny Flynn. He was 2-13 shooting, imagine if he had made one more shot. This game could have been won in regulation, WOOOOOW.
It was Melo’s third game back and he picked up right where he had left off; for the night he was 8-15 for 27 points including 9-9 from the free throw line. Despite Melo coming back K-Mart is still putting up decent numbers and had another double-double with 11-10. Often injured Billups this year also had a great game dropping 24 points and 5 assists.
The Magic were shut down in this game and their leading scoring was Matt Barnes with 23, ouch. The Magic have been on a funk lately mainly because they are on the road but if they want to make it back to the finals again they need to step it up. Howard was virtually out of this game going 1-7 with 8 points and 13 boards. VC was out again but Pietrus is putting together a nice few game stretch with another 12 points.
Clown of the game: Jason Williams. I know, I know. It’s unfair to put him on here as the clown because he played just 18 minutes and Howard was probably worse but in those 18 minutes Williams had 4 assists but 5 turnovers. That’s not his job and he is usually very good about not turning the ball over.
Blazers 120, Bucks 108
Brandon Roy does it again. Every time you think the Blazers are out of it Roy fires back and gets his team a W. Tonight was no different, the Blazers shot 60% from the floor and were 8-19 from 3-point range! Roy dropped 22 and LaMarcus Aldridge had himself a nice game with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Andre Miller is also finding his stroke and had 19 points and 6 assists with just 1 turnover.
Almost the entire Bucks bench had a positive +/- stat on the night. Jodie Meeks looked like he was back at Kentucky going 9-17 and hitting 3-7 from 3 for 21 points. Ersan Ilyasova led all scorers with 24 points.
Heat 115, Warriors 102
When I see the score I say to myself, “This must be the least amount of points the Warriors have scored all season.” Of course it’s not but for them to not put up 115 points at the least means they sturggled shooting the rock and they did by hitting just 42% of their shots although they were 11-24 from deep. This team is just made up of a bunch of shooters who are streaky one night and hot the next. They need some sort of organized game plan so they can build upon their young talent.
Did someone say Dwyane Wade was hurt? I don’t think so after scoring 35 points tonight on 10-15 shooting and 15-15 from the line; he also had 7 boards and 9 assists. Jermaine O’Neal had himself a nice game as well with 24-7. The Head shot 56% from the floor and 50% from 3 (8-16) and moved to 1 game over the .500 mark at 19-18.
Clown of the game: Andris Biedrins. Since he return a few games ago he hasn’t scored more than 8 points and hasn’t had a double figure rebounding game. Same thing tonight, 6 points and 8 rebounds.

That triple OT game was ridiculous.. you didn’t even mention that Corey Brewer hit a 50+ foot shot at the end of regulation to tie it up!!
