News and Rumors: Gilbert to Cop a Plea, Karl to Get Extension, plus more!

Arenas Should Holla at Akon
….Cause there’s a solid chance he could get “Locked Up.” Okay that was corny, but on a serious note, it’s being reported that Gil is going to plead guilty in a plea deal that would leave him at the mercy of the judge. Arenas’ lawyers are pushing for this deal, because many speculate that it would lead to fines and probation. However, Judge Robert Morin can give Gilbert a harsher penalty, of up to five years in jail. My guess is that if Gilbert sees any jail time, it will be in the month to three month range. How this will affect his NBA suspension remains to be seen. The caveat in all of this is that if he does go to jail, the Wizards organization will definitely push to have his contract voided, creating large amounts of cap space for the Wiz. Stay tuned.
George Karl Can Coach Forever!
He probably thinks that in his mind, however the Nuggets are in talks with George to extend his contract. Karl has 958 career
wins and has increased his win totals each year during his tenure in Denver. He’s currently making $3 million, but would like to get a deal done that puts him up in the higher coaching pay scale. The extra money can’t hurt since his son Coby Karl was recently cut by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s now on the Idaho Stampede .
VC Causing Troubles in Orlando
Rashard Lewis talked after the recent loss to Denver about how he and Vince need to get in sync with one another. Vince is leading the Magic in scoring with 17.4 points per game, and has also taken the most
shots on the team with 487. I felt this could be a problem, and I’m sure Shooter and Basher would agree that Vince is the type of guy that can sometimes take too many shots. That was no big deal in New Jersey, but in Orlando, they have so many scoring options. Lewis has complained that he’s not getting enough shots, and that guys off the bench are putting up more shots than he is. Let’s see if Stan Van can get his boys together.
Tidbits:
- LeBron is 50-50 on whether he is going to do the dunk contest. (I’ll be the first to say….he’s not!)
- Doc Rivers thinks KG can be back Jan. 22nd to face Portland. (We’ll see about that.)
- Greg Oden is trying to rehab from his knee surgery in hopes of returning late this season.
- Hedo Turkoglu got heated at some chick that was taking his picture at a club. (Hedo goes to clubs? Who knew?)
- Sam Dalembert has reported that his father is safe after the earthquake in Haiti. Fortunately, his mother and grandmother were in Florida at the time of the disaster. Still, I’m sure he has countless friends and relatives there, hopefully safe! Go Sixers!

Did you call Gilbert Arenas, Gil? Do you guys go fishing together?
If Marko Jaric can date Adrianna Lima, then Hedo Turkoglu is probably taking Alessandra Ambrosio out to clubs.
