Hey all, the NBA rumor mill is winding up each day, especially as we get closer to the February trade deadline. Today we’ll look at some specific rumors, along with many more interesting tidbits.

Al Jefferson is on the Market

Everyone knows the rumors about big men Chris Bosh and Carlos Boozer (and if not, check out our podcast!), but rumblings about an Al Jefferson trade lead the news. David Kahn, the president of the T’Wolves, has denied putting Jefferson on the market, but inside sources repeatedly say that Jefferson has been dangled in numerous trade proposals, including a deal to Indiana that would include Danny Granger (wow!). There are also rumors that the chemistry between Jefferson and front-court mate, Kevin Love, have been less that satisfactory. Dealing Jeff would make sense to me only if the Timberwolves have no interest in bringing him back next year.

Michael Redd is Done-zo

Michael Redd is reportedly out for the rest of the season, after tearing his MCL and ACL. Keep in mind this was the same exact injury to the same exact knee that happened to him last year. Bad news for Redd’s career, along with bad news for the trade possibilities with Milwaukee.

The Nets are a-Dealin!

The Nets sent Eduardo Najera and Sean Williams to Dallas for Shawne Williams and Kris Humprhies. Basher informed me yesterday that it’s likely the Nets will buy out the rest of Shawne’s contract. Shooter was happy with the trade, as soon as he heard Najera was leaving!

Rumor Tid-bits

  • Hedo Turkoglu, is unhappy with his current role on the team in Toronto. He’s unhappy with the lack of ball handling he gets in  the offense. Too bad he signed a 5 year deal for $50+ million last year.
  • Jayson Williams plead guilty to aggravated assault in the case of the death of the limousine driver in 2002. He’ll probably serve at least 18 months in jail.
  • Lionel Hollins will likely be given a contract extension as coach of the Memphis Grizzlies.
  • Seven teams have made offers to Houston in the Tracy McGrady sweepstakes, hoping to add his huge expiring contract to their team.
  • Look for a Jeff Foster to the Denver Nuggets deal soon.
  • The Bulls are actively looking to trade Tyrus Thomas.
  • The Pistons are another team to watch in terms of trades. Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince are both likely candidates.

That’s all I got for now! Look for another update in the coming days.

Imagine if the Wolves got Granger though? They’d have a cornerstone piece at all the great positions. PG – Flynn, SF – Granger, C – Love. Obviously the Wolves would have done that trade (they proposed it) but the Pacers didn’t want to be like the T-Wolves are now with 2 centers (Hibbert and Jefferson). Crazy.

Pacers would be even worse with that trade (yes, but somehow), and the T-Wolves would still be irrelevant.
