NBA All-Star Reserves List Announced!

28 January 2010 450 views 10 Comments

At 7pm, the All-Star Reserves were picked and presented to the world on TNT. The Reserves are chosen by the NBA Coaches. Right or Wrong, these selections cause many debate. Let’s take a look at the teams!

Eastern Conference

G- Rajon Rondo

G- Derrick Rose

G- Joe Johnson

F- Chris Bosh

F- Paul Pierce

F- Gerald Wallace

C- Al Horford

Western Conference

G- Brandon Roy

G- Chris Paul

G- Deron Williams

F- Pau Gasol

F- Zach Randolph

F- Dirk Nowitzki

F- Kevin Durant

My Thoughts:

Looking at the Eastern Conference, four players will be making their first All-Star appearance (Rondo, Rose, Wallace, Horford), and the only one I have a slight issue with is Al Horford. Horford is definitely a solid big man, but I think taking him over David Lee is bold. Horford isn’t even the second best player on his team…maybe not third! That being said, because the Hawks have been playing so well, and the Center position is a weak position out East, I don’t have a problem rewarding a good player on a winning team. My snub list for players out East are David Lee, Joakim Noah, Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, Mo Williams, and Andrew Bogut.

The Western Conference is where I have the biggest problem. I think it’s awesome that Durant is in it for the first of many times, while Zach Randolph and Deron Williams will also be playing in their first All-Star game. But Pau Gasol?? Really? I’m not saying Pau Gasol isn’t an All-Star caliber player, but he has missed 17 games this year. Seventeen games! He’s played in 29, so this means he has played in 63% of this year’s games so far. Chris Kaman, has missed only a couple games, and has been a force out in Clipper-land. The only other player I can put on the snub list, besides Kaman, are Chauncey Billups and Aaron Brooks.

**(Some of my snubs are reaches, but I figured I’d include them)**

What are your gripes? Who got snubbed? What would your team have been? I’ll list mine in the comments after I see what some of you guys write!

Chris Kaman should be a starter but ppl dont know him…. Im happy my boy D. Dimes finally makes it, LONG OVER DUE…..

    LOL Kaman?

All I can say is David Lee was robbed. 19.4 ppg 11.4 boards
    to Horford 13.6 and 9.8

This is an individual award. I am sure they chose Al over Lee cuz of team record.

No wonder Brook Lopez didn’t make it!

I am most disappointed by Joakim Noah not making the East team. He has been tremendous this year, and despite the fact that I hate him, I think a lot of people around the NBA are respecting his game (but apparently not the coaches).

Also, I’d like to have seen Kaman make the team in the West.

Yeah Gasol is one of my favorite players and that pick was so wack! Billups definitely should have made it over Deron Williams. Kaman should have made it over Gasol.

In the East, definitely David Lee. The ASG is all about numbers and he has great numbers.

Wow, amazing, Derrick Rose made it over Mo Williams. Who saw that coming?

On the other hand, either Noah or Lee should make it over Horford, and how can Pau Gasol make it over Chris Kaman. Kaman has finally been healthy and is producing great numbers (20 ppg & 10 rpg).

The Clippers are really the ugly red-headed step-child of the Lakers.

I disagree Basher, Deron Williams was my player of the month in December before Kobe nailed three buzzer beaters. It’s close, but what gives it to Williams is that Billups missed 8 games. Also, the Jazz have looked unstoppable of late. Well, so haave the Nuggets. I apologize, i am continually contradicting my self in this argument. I just watched the State of the Union the other night and the flip-flopping Democrats have my head rattling.

  • The Basher said:

Yeah Ref I can’t argue against Williams I’m just saying I would have taken Billups over him. Don’t get me wrong, Deron would have right behind him. I would have just flip-flopped the two and Deron would have been the one on the outside looking in.

We’ll never know but Im sure Mo Williams being hurt played a role in him not being voted in.

Regardless, Kaman and Lee shouldve been in this game without any doubt. When your team plays the Hawks, noone says, ” Oh man, what can we do to contain Horford.” And with Pau, he only played 60% of this seasons games.

I’m a HUGE knicks hater but David Lee should be an All-Star…. Looks like I gotta go off on my next show for Lee & Kaman lol
