Nate, Refs Leads Knicks’ Surge Past Bobcats

Knicks 97, Bobcats 93

After a dismal 1-9 start, the New York Knicks are finally starting to show they got their act together (Nets – take notice).

If you were like me and love basketball so much that you spent tonight watching this game, you were in a for a treat. Down by 10 after a rough start to the third quarter, Nate-the-Great mounted 8 of his 10 points in a matter of minutes. After a pullup three to end the third, followed by a dunk and another three to start the fourth, the Knicks were back in the game.

They also got a bit lucky.

Stephen Jackson had the ability to tie the game with less than 2 minutes left. And it appeared he did draining a 3 pointer. But, after review, Sean Wright , Gary Zielinski , and Joe Derosa decided that Jacksons foot was on the line – video tape shows otherwise. A crucial point in time that in my opinion, the ref’s changed the outcome of the game.

However, Wilson Chandler was the story of the night. He set a new career high with 27 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 11-21 from the field.  David Lee, dominant both in the paint and from the outside, finished with 22 points. The Knicks are now 15-20, and have gone 14-11 since their TRBL 1-9 start. They now sit a half game out of 8th place in the East.

Stephen Jackson led the way for the Bobcats with 26 points, and Ronald Murray had a nice outing off the bench (20 points). The loss snaps a 3-game winning streak for Charlotte, who now has the 7th seed in the East.
