Mavericks Wrangle Thunder, Blazers Cutdown Magic, and more!
Thunder 98, Mavericks 99
Kevin Durant did all he could (30 points, 13 rebounds), but it still wasn’t enough as the Mavericks ended a two game home loss streak, beating the Thunder. Dirk the Jirk hit a luscious jumper from the top of the key with under ten seconds to go to put Dallas up by three. Wisely, Dallas then fouled Durant before he could get a three pointer off. KD cooly knocked down both free throws, and the Mavs inbounded the ball to sure shooting guard Jason Terry. Terry blew the first free throw, giving OKC plenty of hope. In an even bigger shock, the Jet clanked the second free throw as well! Unfortunately, the Thunder had no timeouts and only 5 seconds to get the ball upcourt. Nenad Kristic gathered the rebound but had his pass to Russell Westbrook deflected by Josh Howard, stalling their movement up court only allowing a desperation heave. Tough loss, but a great game!
MVP of the Game: Dirk the Jirk with 32 points and 5 rebounds, including the biggest bucket of the game.
Orlando 87, Trailblazers 102
Orlando was pleased to see the return of Vince Carter, meanwhile the Blazers were playing without Brandon Roy. Oh yeah thats
right, Vince Carter has made the Magic worse, and the Blazer role players stepped up in what turned out to be an easy victory. Martell Webster had 24 points and 9 rebounds, and Andre Miller chipped in 19 points and 9 assists. Steve Blake also came off the bench with 18 points. Orlando on the other hand had noone score over 15 points, as Stan Van was visibly frustrated with the effort of his starters.
MVP of the Game: LaMarcus Aldridge had 14 points and 14 rebounds.
In other NBA Action:
Clippers 86, Lakers 126
Up three points at halftime, the Lakers outscored the Clippers 73 to 36. Kobe had 30 points and Pau Gasol and Andre Bynum each had 20 points. Meanwhile, B Diddy and Eric Gordon shot a combined 10 of 28 from the field. It also doesn’t help that the Clippers had 11 more turnovers than the Lakers.
Bucks 113, Warriors 104
Brandon Jennings didn’t score 55 points, however the Bucks still won the game! Young Buck did pour in 25 points, including 3 three pointers. Andrew Bogut had 15 points and 16 rebounds, as they held off the high scoring Warriors. GSW was led by 33 points from Monta Ellis and 32 points from Corey Maggette. How you lose when two players score 30 points on the same team makes no sense to me….but that’s Golden State for ya.
Heat 115, Rockets 106
I told these jokers in the podcast, that the Heat were gonna win. I said, “That Rafer Alston signing was an underrated move.” I got laughed at. I called Skip to my Lou up, and he felt my anger, responding with 17 points. Jermaine O’Neal had 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Dwyane Wade had 37 points and 8 assists. Every time Houston inched back, Miami would respond with a big bucket.
Raptors 112, Knicks 104
In the Chris Bosh tryout, Andrea Bargnani stole the show with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jose Calderon had 21 points and 6 assists off the bench, as the NYK defense was lackluster. David Lee had 25 points and 14 rebounds, furthering his case for a big contract this upcoming offseason. Danilo Gallinari hit five treys amidst his team high 26 points. Oh, and Al Harrington had 31 points OFF THE BENCH. The Knicks should have won this game, but they just couldn’t play long periods of solid defense.

Nate McMillan is the unaminous Coach of the Year.
G, you got laughed at for calling the Alston signing underrated because it doesn’t matter.
But Shooter, he was the second leading scorer against Houston. G deserves some props for that. Good call buddy.
Why are you sucking up to G? You need some good picks for next week?
Lol I like how I’m suddenly the advice for picking games.
But on a serious note, the Alston signing was underrated simply because its not like Alston is some superstar standout player. He’s a veteran point guard who can be high risk-high reward, yet he’s exactly what Miami needed. You can’t tell me Miami is better without him. Chalmers and Arroyo just weren’t getting it done.
It’s not the signing of the year, but it will have an impact on how Miami does this year.
I’ve been saying the entire year that the Thunder should have traded for Alston to man the offense with some veteran leadership.
Looks like the Heat heard me instead.
