I agree with Mike on this one. Cuban's a lot smarter than people think. He might come off as someone who is a bit of a crybaby and yes, he does let his emotions get in the way. But I think that he knows when to pick his battles.

I think he's hated more because he's living the dream that all of us wish we could fulfill...he owns his favorite team.

I never called him an idiot. He isn't an idiot, but he obviously doesn't mind the bad PR (in this case, I'd agree no PR is the only bad PR). I just don't like his demeanor and smugness.

I think it's pretty clear that I have a personal opinion of Mark Cuban, which is that I don't like him. I blame him for that, not me. Just because a guy made himself into a billionaire from nothing doesn't mean I have to like him, right?

(does anyone remember that this guy also was a big participant of insider trading??)

Me: Mark Cuban is so stupid..

Crowd: How stupid is he?

Me: Mark Cuban is so stupid that he went from being an average college kid to a billionaire in like 5 years.

Calling him an idiot is asinine. I'm sorry, idiots don't build from scratch to become billionaires.

He is one of the smartest owners in the NBA. The fact that you have an NBA blog and can't name 5 owners is pretty rediculous, but the fact that Cuban is one of the ones you know makes him a genius. He is probably one of the top 5 most recognizable owners in sports with Steinbrenner and Jerry Jones. No press is bad press is almost always true, and in this case it is 100% true.

He has added intrigue to a meaningless NBA regular season game. The Colts play next saturday at the same time as the Pacers home game, but I bet you didn't know that. He knows the NFL wouldn't change their game time, but now more people are likely to tune in to or come to the Mavs game because of what he said.

This happens all the time (as far as overscheduling games). Ratner didn't complain when I was one of like 600 people to see the Nets play the Nuggets during a game of the World Series. More people in the arena were cheering for yankee updates than the nets scoring anyway. The same will be true this saturday in Dallas.

Yeah I agree Tom that it makes he known because he is vocal but he is an idiot. He speaks before he thinks and he probably regrets half the things he says without admitting it obviously. It's one thing to be passionate, it's another thing to be a jerk about it.

Yes, I would want the Nets to have a passionate owner, but at the same time, he really should avoid being a jerk.

I totally agree that the Mavs were nothing before him. But owners of other teams come into leagues and fix what was wrong. The LA Angels owner, Arte Moreno, took over that team when they were terrible. He fixed what was wrong and I am happy for him and the franchise. He never had to be a jerk or put HIMSELF in the limelight for doing so.

No matter how much he loves his team and is a man of the people, he will always put himself before the fans.

In this case, is he upset that his fans can't go to the game? NO, he is upset that he may not get a full draw in the arena. That = money.
