Knicks Overcome Hawks in OT; Kobe “Sean Elliots” Kings

Knicks 112, Hawks 108

My mom had family and friends over for dinner today, so I had a crowd of Knicks “fans” (they’re coming out of the shadows these days) over to watch this game with me. This game can be summed up in two words: Nate Robinson. Just a week ago, Nate was looking to be dealt, as he hadn’t played a game in 30 days leading up to this game. The Knicks were 9-6 in December so no one was really complaining. Well, now that we’re in January, Mike D’Antoni switched things up, bringing Nate into the game. Considering how great the Hawks have been this year, they controlled this game. The only thing keeping them from victory was Nate Robinson who hit big bucket after big bucket to keep his team in it.

Nate had 41 points and 8 assists, including game tying baskets to force overtime in Atlanta. Once in OT, the Knicks kicked it in stronger than Usain Bolt, putting Atlanta away for good. Wilson Chandler had 24 points and a ridiculous 17 rebounds for the Knicks, as they now move to 13-20 on the year.

Stat of the game: Nate scored the Knicks final 8 points of the fourth quarter, and 11 of the team’s 13 points in OT. Guess he’ll be getting more minutes.

Magic 106, T’Wolves 94

Dwight Howard had 9 points. Vince Carter had 13. And yet, the Magic were still able to come out with a solid road victory over a Minnesota team who has been playing well as of late. Matt Barnes, getting his first start of the year had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic. Ryan Anderson knocked down 4 threes off the bench, while Rashard Lewis led the Magicians in scoring with 21 on the night.

The Wolfenstiens got yet another double double from Kevin Love with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jonny Flynn led all scorers with 23. Minnesota stayed within reach through the first three quarters, but once the fourth quarter came, the Magic turned it on, outscoring the dogs by 10 in that period.

Stat of the game: The Magic had 14 steals, to the Wolves 5….aiding to Minnesota’s total of 19 turnovers.

Lakers 109, Kings 108

I just want to start this out with laughter. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The Black Mamba hit a game winning three pointer, as he motioned to the TV calling out all the NBAToday staffers who didn’t pick him as player of the past decade. I swear I saw him mouth, “Tim Duncan ain’t doin’ that, son!”

The Lakers were down by as much as 20 points in this game, but in the second half, they started mounting a solid comeback effort. The Kings, without Tyreke Evans were scoring at will in the first half, as it seemed the Lake Show was missing big time defender Ron Artest. Watching this game, I thought the Kings were going to hold on as they were counter punching all of the Lakers attempts. Kobe Bryant shrugged this all off by hitting a three pointer as his heels hovered the sideline at the buzzer. The faces of the Kings’ bench players were hilarious. You are probably wondering, “G, can I get some stats?” Stats wouldn’t do this game justice. Mbenga for President.

Stat of the Night: 16 collective “sighs” from the Kings bench.
