Hibbert is Howard’s Kryptonite; Wizards Able to Hold off Sixers; Wallace and Jackson Lead Bobcats
Pacers 97, Magic 90
When I saw that the fans voted for this game on NBAtv I thought to myself, “What a horrible game to pick. Without Granger and Murphy the Pacers have no chance.” Boy was I wrong! This is the beauty of the NBA in the regular season. Any team can be any other team despite their records. The Indiana Pacers were able to limit Dwight Howard to six shots (2-6 from the field) and kept him in foul trouble all night. Roy Hibbert provided the aggressiveness that this Pacer team desperately needed. He finished with 26 points (10-19 from the field) and 8 rebounds. He went after Dwight Howard causing him to foul out in the 4th.
Not only was Howard struggling, Vince Carter shot an abysmal 2-15 from the floor, finishing with six points. Mickael Pietrus and Jameer Nelson lead the Magic with sixteen points apiece.
Wizards 104, 76ers 97
With Brendan Haywood missing the game due to illness, Antwan Jamison stepped it up grabbing fourteen rebounds and scoring thirty-two points in a 104 to 97 win against the Philadelphia 76ers. Gilbert Arenas, amidst all the trouble due to his gun prank, finished with a double-double registering 19 points and 14 assists.
Samuel Dalembert did everything he could to win this game. Sammie D finished with 20 points and 20 rebounds. Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams also played well for the Sixers finishing with 20 points and 19 points respectively. One player who did not play well for the Sixers was future Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson. In thirty-four minutes Iverson had six points (2-6 shooting), five assists, and seven turnovers.
Bobcats 113, Bulls 108
The Bulls fought hard on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats, but Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson were just too much for them to handle. Gerald Wallace attacked the basket finishing with 32 points and 9 rebounds and Big Shot Jack had 25 points of his own in the winning effort. Boris Diaw showed how valuable he is to this team by scoring 5 points, dishing out 6 assists, grabbing 4 rebounds, blocking 5 shots, and recording 2 steals before fouling out.
The Bulls were led by John Salmons (19 points) and Luol Deng (18 points). Down three in the final seconds, Derrick Rose and John Salmons both missed three points that could have tied the game.
Bucks 98, Nets 76
It is hard to win when you have three quarters where you score less than twenty points. The Nets did exactly this and were blown out at home. Andrew Bogut led the Bucks with 18 points in a game where no starter played more than 28 minutes. Michael Redd, who recently said that he would like to be traded to a contender, struggled shooting two of nine from the field and finishing with 9 points. The one bright spot for the Nets tonight was Yi Jianlian’s 22 points. He was able to hit nine of his twelve shots while being in foul trouble all night.
Mavs 98, Pistons 93
The Pistons hit their lowest point in years dropping their 10th game in a row in a 98 to 93 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Jason Terry continued his stellar play off the bench scoring 26 points while Dirk Nowitzki added 22 of his own in the winning effort.
