Calling All Superstars: Shaq Wants Stars to Dunk

Anyone who followed the NBA games or read The Basher’s wrap-up from last night’s games knows that Tuesday night was SHAQ NIGHT, as the Big Aristotle dropped his 28,000 point. As we all know, Shaq has a tendency to open his mouth sometimes and say pretty much whatever is on his mind. Sometimes these things are important, unimportant, complicated, uncomplicated, funny, and well actually, he’s hardly ever unfunny…
So of course we can expect him to have something to say after a momentous occasion on his part. And he actually makes a great point.
The NBA has really turned into a global sport and the coverage of superstars is out of control in other parts of the world, sometimes even more than in the US! So Shaq’s idea to help the morale of the globe after the devastating earthquake in Haiti last week and the morale of the current disappointing field is to have some of the NBA’s brightest and most recognizable stars compete in the Slam Dunk Contest on All-Star Weekend in Dallas.
Who does this include? Shaq says he would like his teammate LeBron James (who recently wussed out after saying he would complete a year ago) to join the likes of former dunk champions Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter. Shaq says, “As his manager, I will only allow ‘Bron to do the dunk contest if Vince Carter comes back out. If Kobe comes back out and if another big name comes back out. If we could get a big prize and have half the money go to the people of Haiti and the other half to the winner.”

Not a bad idea. Although, I think it would make most sense for these millionaires to put the whole prize towards Haiti. However, I’m willing to take what I can get here. If these guys would be willing to come out and participate and put on an awesome show, then I’ll give them whatever they want.
Shaq goes on to say, “I’m saying it now. So tweet it. Facebook it. E-mail it and hopefully it gets out. Vince, we’re calling you out. Kobe, we’re calling you out. We’re calling everybody out. If those guys step up in the dunk contest, then I will allow my client to step up.”
In this case, Shaq is NBAtoday-ing it. Or maybe I am? Nah, I’ll just say Shaq is.

I love this idea; I really hope it happens and everyone in the NBA which huge egos realizes it’s for a good cause. And Shooter, Shaq is hilarious (unless it’s about LeBron and in this case it was).
